HD was plug and play which was good since thare was no instuctions included. It was necessary to use WD website to determine proper jumper configuration for master/ slave connecting.

The only thing I needed was the install info from Western Digital that showed me the jumper settings for slave or master.Be sure to use the ones from your old drive as this one didn't have them. I installed the drive and easily installed the operateing system.It really fit my need to get a older PC up and running without spending a fortune on a bigger drive I didn't need.

My only problem with this drive came when I tried to register it and found it was listed at WD's web site as one sold with a new PC, information that wasn't in the listing. It's a great drive, fast response, and I installed it myself with zero difficulty, thanks to the copious information available through WD's web site (no paperwork came with the drive). Value is not that great, since it wasn't new-in-box, and since much bigger drives can be had for not much more money, but this was exactly what I needed for my older PC, at an OK price.
