Difficult to set up and use. Also difficult to read, very dark. Should have a light in it so you can see the readout.

  • Good hand held radio, it actiually works.

    ClamBuster  from Sebastian, Florida, Rating:5.0

I wanted a hand held weather / AM / FM radio for kayak, boat, and weather updates. I could not find a waterproof model. However, this one was a good compromise. Works great, AA batteries.....so far so good.

I ordered this as a gift for a Canadian friend, but I didn't read the fine print closely enough...it only reads in Farenheit, not Celsius. So I will be returning (unopened).

WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE RADIO IN SERVICE THE FIRST TIME NOTHING WORKED. I FORCED THE EXTENSION OF THE SPRINGS IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT AND ADDED SOME FOLDED PAPER BETWEEN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR AND THE BATTERIES TO INCREASE CONTACT PRESSURE. THE RADIO AND LIGHT POWERED UP, BUT THE AM RADIO WAS SOME WEAK I COULD BARELY HEAR THE AREAS STRONGEST STATION. THE FM RADIO FEATURE WORKED A LITTLE BETTER AS LONG AS IT WAS HELD CLOSE TO MY BODY. WHEN LAID DOWN STATIC WAS CONSISTENT. IN SUMMARY, THIS RADIO IS NOT WORTH OWNING AT ANY PRICE.

  • Precision - not quite

I purchased a Taylor indoor/outdoor thermometer last June ('14) and it was sketchy from the start. The indoor part was accurate when nest to the thermometer on my thermostat but the remote unit - even next to the main unit was off by 2 degrees. Outside, in a weather protected location, the remote unit started failing by the end of October. At times the outside temp was around 114. I contacted Taylor and they were very nice about replacing my remote unit. It was a lot less than accurate and the humidity was a constant HH. Again, they were very nice and sent a whole new unit. It didn't last two weeks. The first time below freezing and it died dead. I recommend that this company be avoided as far as "precision" instruments.
