Vizio 8-inch LED 4 GB Tablet Computer (Refurbished) w/ free Folio Case

I have owned the Vizio tablet for almost three months, and I love it. I use it daily, mostly for personal, but some business use. I am a former ipad user, so I have some previous product experience to compare it to. I will start out by saying it is definitely not an ipad, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. There are many things about the Vizio that I find superior to the ipad. The number one thing is the availability of the mini HDMI port that allows you to play services such as Netflix and Hulu+ on a tv. I travel a lot, and I can plug the Vizio into the tv in the hotel and watch tv shows and movies directly from the tablet on the tv. Very cool. The Vizio also includes an IR blaster, which allows the tablet to be used as a universal remote control for just about any home theatre or tv equipment. The included remote app allows you to save different equipment configurations to different room databases. I love this feature because I spend a lot of time in airports, and I hate the fact that you can't find anywhere to sit without a TV blasting CNN in your ear. I have accumulated quite an extensive database of airports in my remote app that allows me to mute the airport tv's. I will usually do this if it is apparent that no one is watching it. The touchscreen is quite responsive, although a little slower than the ipad. The 1ghz processor is no speed demon, but I have not found any app that I use to be too terribly slow. Which brings me to the apps availability. The Vizio includes direct access to the Google Android App store, as well as the Amazon App store. Sure, they don't have the "millions" of apps available that the ipad does, but there are thousands available for just about anything you could want. There is only 4gb internal memory, with only 2gb available for actual storage. So far I have not found this to be a problem and I have about a dozen apps installed and running. You can use micro sd cards for additional storage, up to 32gb. I store all of my movies and music on the external sd card, so the small amount of internal memory is not a problem. I use the tablet to view movies on plane trips quite a lot. I use a program called Magic DVD Ripper to copy my DVD’s and convert them to .mp4, then I transfer them to the external micro xd card. The included android movie viewing software works quite well, and the picture quality is excellent. The sound is also very good through my Bose QC3 headphones. The battery takes a little while to charge, but will last me about 6-8 hours depending on what I am doing. I have gone an entire 8 hour trip with a combination of surfing the web in the airport terminal and watching movies on the plane, and had the battery still have about 10% left on the charge. Overall a good solid product that does what it is designed to do exceptionally well. Vizio product support has been excellent, they have pushed two updates to the tablet to correct minor problems since I have had it. I spoke with a Vizio customer rep, and they told me that Vizio plans to upgrade the tablet to Android Ice Cream Sandwich as soon as it is available. Highly recommended, I have purchased another one as a gift.
