Worked great until it completely quit
This flash seemed like a great alternative to the extremely high-priced Sony model. However, after having used it without incident for three months, the thing simply stopped firing. I quickly discovered that the manufacturer's warranty on this item is only 30 days. You should definitely consider alternatives with longer warranties when buying bargain flashes. Fortunately, the good folks at O.com agreed to give me a full refund so now I'll try the Bell & Howell version. It carries a one year warranty.

Great for the $$
After years of using the inferior on-camera flash on my Sony Alpha, I broke down and decided to spend money on an external unit. After looking at several flash units, I realized that the Sony units were extremely over priced and I would have to settle for an aftermarket unit. The Vivitar unit has already been put to the test and I'm pleasantly surprised at the results. The pictures at my high-school reunion came out great and I only spent about $****. The only problem I've noticed is the recharge time between flashes, but I found that the more expensive units aren't much better. So I recommend this unit as a great buy for Alpha owners on a budget.

Good Product
I recently received this flash from Overstock and I'm very happy I purchased it. Great value for the money. Works great with my SONY Alpha 200, on camera and in slave mode. Couldn't ask for more at this price. The shipping process took a little long (14 days) and the tracking info through my account at Overstock was only a little helpful as it did not provide enough details in my opinion. However, the livechat was really helpful as I was able to obtain a tracking # from the livechat clerk and then I tracked my package through Canada Post.
