For a basic DVD/VHS non recording unit, I find that it fits the bill okay. This does have the "upconvert" DVD function when hooked up with an HDMI cable, but I can't see the difference. HDMI cable for the dvd player but had to hook up 3 RCA cables for the VHS? (2 audio and 1 video) so have to set my TV on different inputs depending which one I'm watching. Both should've been set to run through the one HDMI cable.

Bought these boxes because TWC informed us that we would need converter boxes to watch their signal on an analog TV after 1/1/14. Hoped for "plug and play", but didn't get it. The manual is poorly written and doesn't cover many aspects of setting up this box. There is an 800 number included in the manual, for tech support, but, in many, many attempts, I only ever got a recorded message that all lines were busy. The iView website looks good, but only contains the same limited info as the manual. And an email appeal for help went unanswered. I GIVE UP! And back they go to Overstock.

Really basic machine. If you're looking for something that can play DVDs and VHS tapes, this works perfectly. If you're looking for a machine that can do more, then this item is probaly not for you. I've had the machine for about a 1 month and have experienced no problems. Set up was pretty simple. The remote is pretty basic. This unit cannot record DVD or transfer VHS content to DVD. If this is what you're looking for, this is not for you.
