sloppy
I bought this a little over two months ago to use with a netbook. Initially I connected it and played a disc without any problem. Yesterday was the second time it has been used and now upon ejecting a disc it shoots them several inches onto the desk or floor if not caught. It really is like an over wound spring in a slice toaster. Absolutely sloppy. I've power cycled and changed types of discs all to no avail. Aside from this very annoying problem it does function. Too late to return it now. I have learned an important lesson: Test the item several times before the return period expires.

piece of junk
I am an avid shopper of Overstock (mostly clothing and shoes) and recently decided to try my luck with electronics. So I bought this external dvd drive and also a refurbished laptop. Both are a huge disappointment!! The front of the dvd drive just fell off right after I took it out of the box. I managed to make it work even without the front cover because I really needed to load some software on my netbook. It is very loud while running. Overstock doesn't seem to have a good return policy so I'm sure what I'm going to do. Won't ever buy electronics on O again no matter what the price.
