Uniden PRO510XL 40-channel Compact CB Radio

I compared a lot of CB's in this range of very basic options and a low price. The Uniden 510XL was my choice, so I started looking around and found it here on Overstock with the best price going. When I got it, I was really surprised at how compact it is, which works well in the limited space cab of my truck. It only took me a few minutes to hook it up temporarily to test it out. I purchased a used K-40 antenna to transmit with, which I highly recommend. It's basic features work very well, and the power is strong enough to make it through some hills and valleys where I live. The mic is nice and compact, and great that I can replace it easily with another if needed. It should be noted that, actual listed transmit power is 4 watts. The 7w listed in the specs online here is for the output speaker. On the speaker note, I hooked the Uniden's external speaker jack to my car stereo's external input for better volume over road noise. It's small enough to hang underneath the dash with a high quality strong velcro tape, or rest on top of a dash with velcro to hold in place. The bracket works well for these options which is what I'm using. With the long power lead wire, and crimping wire ends for easy plug in and unplugs, and the velcro of course, it makes this a great temporary or emergency CB for camping or road trips, which is exactly what I wanted it for. this radio has more transmit/receive power than i expected. great set-pu for the money.

Excellent product for the money. The internal speaker is a little scratchy, but the signals both ways are about as strong as much higher priced units.
