This phone is great. They do not deserve the bad ratings that previous buyers posted. Yes, I believe Overstock could have provided a more detailed description of this phone, but buyers should accept a little responsibility for doing their homework. This phone is an “extension” that has to be paired with a Uniden DECT 6.0 base unit. This phone will not work by it’s self. It comes with a charging base only. It will not connect directly to a phone line. You have to have a Uniden DECT6.0 base unit connected to the phone line, and then pair this handset to the base. And then again, it will only pair up with certain models of base units. But if you get a complete Uniden DECT 6.0 system that this handset works with, it works great. If you don't have a comparable Uniden DECT 6.0 base unit, do not buy this phone. It will not work by it's self as a stand alone cordless phone.

This is the 4th unit of this phone that I've purchased from Overstock.com in the past 3 years. All the other phones are still working great after all this time -have never had to even replace a battery! These phones just great. You can drop these phones, leave them outside and really abuse them and they just keep working great. I've purchased other cordless phones and none seem to even come close to these units. Other phones stop working after several months (batteries need to be replaced, they get scratched or cracked, etc.). With these phones, I've never had a problem. I highly recommend them to anyone with kids who abuse cordless phones.

Bought as a replacement for the hand set that came with original product that got damaged due to rain damage - the new phone has been thru two rain storms sitting on an outside count and works like a champ - It's also easy to find because of the color - programmed very easily to existing base

Exactly as Uniden describes. Only small issue was the activation of the handset. Unit requires pressing a button through a rubber seal on the bottom of the handset. Pressing too hard or with the wrong tool may pierce the seal. Using the small thumb-tack like tool supplied with the handset works well. I hope I never need the little thing again. It would be nice if the activation were done inside the battery compartment instead of on the outside of the phone.

Works much better than the usual Uniden handsets which tend to break after a few months of use.

Phone didn't come with base, but only stated so in very very small print. Can't find a base anywhere because they are sold with every other phone but this one. Very very disappointed; can't use it at all

I would have rated this product alot better had I known I had to buy the whole system. I'm sure it will work fine once I have the whole system, but nothing in the advertisement told me I needed to do so. I need to buy the rest of it so I can trult give a good opinion.
