This item was easy to install, but did not work with my device, a Garmin GPS reciever. Software worked, but when I plugged in my GPS, nothing..

It measures only 18 inches, not 3 feet which is why I give it only 4 stars. It is basic, but it comes up (including under Linux - as /dev/ttyACM, not /dev/ttyUSB) as a USB ACM device - this is more like a modem, so should be supported without special drivers, or with easily available ones. Many serial ports need to upload firmware or have something special done. This one is plain. It only goes to 115,200 baud but that is the normal top speed for serial. No frills, but works well.

This is a good product at a good price.

No frills to this item - strictly utilitarian. I haven't used the item yet so I cannot attest to the quality of its utility. But it sure looks nice and solid. - cool color.

Works fine, but was only a one foot cable. So be warned.

This cable arrived very quickly and was exactly as represented by Overstock. Unfortunately, it did not work for the purpose I bought it for, due to problems with the handheld appliance I used it on--- not due to any problem with the cable. An interesting tidbit to think about when purchasing a cable like this-- both the cable and my handheld have male screw-in attachments, so if I had been able to use it, I could not have secured the connection with the screw-in bolts that come on it. Nowhere have I ever seen a description in an ad that stated which "end" of the attachment was on the appliance or cable-- male or female.

Product did what I needed to hook up serial to USB port. The included disc with drivers was nice to have,also the adapter from 9 pin to 25 pin. I didn't know these were included but was glad they were as I needed the adapter. The instructions for installing the driver were included and easy to follow.

works as advertised, price was right, fast service

Great product, easy to install and use. Be sure to remove the mini-CD from the packaging - it's easy to overlook. But once I found it (between the layers of the cardboard backing), I dropped it in the CD, downloaded it and began using it. Great value, no hassle.

This item worked as promised. It has a small disk with the driver on it, which only took a minute to install. I used this to connect an old GPS that has an RS232 Serial cable to my USB only laptop. It works flawlessly.

The converter would be okay but the CD driver that came with it was in Chinese. My husband is a computer guru and said there were no drivers at all on the CD only garble. He had to do what gurus do and download me another driver. Not too bad but the product should have come with it. Also all the writing on the package is in Chinese.

I could not get it to work with the application I wanted it to use it with.
