More information about

Tripods

Film cameras were first introduced in the early 19th Century. Since that time, the tripod has changed less than any of the other camera accessories. They may be metal instead of wood, but they all still have three legs! (Although with Overstock.com's discounts, you're actually only paying for one or two legs.)
Digital cameras are a whole lot smaller and lighter than those 1830s wooden box cameras, so camera tripods can now be thinner and lighter, too. This is good news when carrying your tripod strapped to a camera bag because modern electronics allows us a whole range of techno-toys to fill that bag--a digital camera body, several camera lenses, extra camera batteries, camera flash and so on. Fortunately, all of this camera gear is smaller than it used to be, so you can leave the covered wagon at home.
A modern vcamera tripod, also called a camera stand, is still adjustable. You can set tripods on uneven ground and adjust each leg until the camera is perfectly level or set the camera stand height wherever you think your camera will get the best angle on the subject. (A little like the way you got the best price at Overstock.com!)
By the way, old-style wooden camera tripods are still available. A wooden tripod is really beautiful. It is also really, really expensive. Why buy a camera stand that's so high-priced you are afraid to take it out of the closet? A 21st Century tripod is durable, easy to maintain, works equally well with film cameras and digital cameras and, if you don't drop it off a mountain, will last as long as your eyesight. Pick the one that suits you best and get an excellent discount to boot at your camera bargains-every-day site, Overstock.com.
