Toshiba Satellite was a gift for my grandson.
Toshiba Satellite Notebook has so far met standards. If the volume continues to malfunction on occasion, I would probably not recommend this notebook for any parent who is thinking about purchasing one for a student who is homeschooling, or traveling.

good deal
Good basic laptop. It comes with a DVD component and a video camera. Both are important to me. I don't need a laptop with a lot of bells and whistles and don't do a lot of spreadsheets or download large documents. This basic laptop meets my needs.

Bad Luck
I purchased this laptop for my daughter to replace the small net book she was using. Now that she is in high school and writes more term papers, I thought a full size keyboard would work better. The product arrived very fast and she fell in love with it so you can imagine our frustration that only 2 1/2 weeks later we had to send it back for a display defect. Since this model is sold out, a fast exchange wasn't an option so unfortunately my money is tied up waiting for the return shipment arrives and a refund is issued. So I guess I'm forced to give my first bad review....next time I will buy local so my daughter isn't without a laptop for a week or two during the return process.

great for the price
Has windows office starter that is all I need perfect for my home office. Also comes with Window Media great for music, photos and slide show presentations. No need for my to add softwear upgrades. A little heavy but for the price GREAT VALUE

I was looking for a laptop on the week they were phasing out Windows 7 and going to 8. Every store I went to..including crossing the state border, had all the Windows 7 notebooks pulled from the shelves.Yet they had not released the 8's yet. Overstock was a Godsend.. as this was a birthday present that was promised. I ordered and received the product in a matter of days. It was perfect.
