Product worked as advertised!
I purchased this to convert my old and deteriorating VHS tapes to DVD. The Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VCR worked perfectly. As mentioned in reviews, the factory directions were confusing so I relied on the comments by G. B. Packert (12/16/2009) who had contacted Toshiba directly. His suggestions were perfect and I ended up converting about 35 tapes down to 12 DVD's. In all, I would highly recommend this product if you need to convert old VHS tapes. Also, the unit was delivered very promptly!

Paid postage to return a defective machine
Someone out there is going to get this piece of junk because I returned it. And like me, when YOU return it, it will cost you shipping to do so.

- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? This item was a refurbish. The refurbisher did a greeeat job. The DVDs just showed loading, loading, loading and either froze up or eventually made the drive make this really bad (and clearly malfunctioning) noise. All kinds of DVDs (manufacturer's originals, home made , etc) failed to play or even load. Piece of junk that I had to pay over $11 is shipping to return. Not happy.

Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VCR COMBO
Thank you O.COM for 'above and beyond' sticking up for your buyers. UPS noted delivering a dented, rattling, split box left in front of our door as no one was home. As I opened the box I found the unit dented, loose broken sharp pieces of black plastic, broken glass, and rattled badly. I called O.COM who expedited the matter immediately via a full refund. UPS driver admitted knowing the re-delivered electronic box was damaged and decided not to swing by to take it back. I brought it into a local electronic repair shop to be told it would cost more to repair than replace and given back to us to discard. O.COM resolved this very disappointing experience, and in doing so, we were able to buy another one. Thank you O.COM

I did not like receiving a product which was refurbish and especially when it would not work.

Excellent product for the money
The Dvd recorder is excellent but the fact that it doesn't come with an owner's manual to teachhow to use is a big draw back. Toshiba provides an online version but not everyone has a computer in the same room as the DVD recorder. Customer service from Toshiba is not as good as some other customers but machine seems to work fine. Too soon to know for how long.
