TomTom One XL GPS Navigation System Kit

Purchased an identical TomTom One XL because mines was stolen, mid-day, while parked in Georgetown Shops “Colonial (underground) Parking Garage.” I think a worker took it, so beware. Anyway, I love it, but I’m biased since I had one before. Although I'm in my late 20s, I’m not tech savvy and it’s very easy to operate. One of my favorite features is its ability to calculate alternate routes, so if you run into traffic it will map out another path, enabling you to take the nearest exit ramp. Or, if you simply want to avoid part of your route (i.e. you’d rather not take New York Avenue into DC) you highlight that part of the directions and it will map out a new direction. Times and distance automatically updates. If you change your mind you can click "recalculate original route" and everything goes back to the way it was. Cons…My old TomTom One XL occasionally didn’t recognize certain streets and newly constructed developments, leaving me to fend for myself. I think you can connect your GPS to a computer and download recent maps and stuff, so I might try doing that with this one.

Shipped quickly, easy to use, only tells you to turn right or left, no street names. Worked for one week then started to give wrong directions ( turn left when should have been turn right etc.) Also did not give shortest route.

I really like the tomtom one xl. I've had the tomtom one for about 4 years now and instead of updating the map, I just purchased a new one in the xl model. It is ready to use straight out of the box and is completely reliable. The screen is clear and easy to read, much easier than the regular size tomtom one. My parents have also had this tomtom one xl for about 1 year and they absolutely love theirs. We also just purchased one for my nephew for his birthday. That's how good it is. We would not consider another brand based on this models use. We will stick with tomtom.

I've had my Tom-Tom GPS for almost a year now and it is still performing great! I live in the mountains up by Lake Isabella, CA and am a weekend gold prospector. Our club has the GPS coordinates posted for our members to lead them to the center of our claims. Even though I've never been there, this little unit directs me to the correct spot every time ---- now if it could only locate the gold for me !
