TEAC Turntabvle CD Recorder

neiln Apr 20, 2009

A great value for the money. The only thing missing that would be useful would be a ability to record from a cassette. It is easy to use.

Easy to Use But...

Anonymous from New Jersey, Jan 8, 2009

Reason for Purchas: I bought this for my father-in-law who has crates of old records. I liked the styling of it better than the old fashion style ones because it matches his current stereo setup. Pros: I like the styling and it's ease of use. Initially, we were going to get him a USB turntable but we figured having to burn CDs from the computer would be too much for him. So, the idea of burning a CD with the touch of 2-3 buttons was great. I tried it before we gave it to him and it was simple. Cons: The quality was a little questionable. There were some loose screws in the back-the ones that hold on the lid. One side of the LCD display was real bright, while the other side was dim but still readable and not too distracting. This next problem was more my fault. I was expecting the unit to have AUX OUT so he could play the records on the Teac but listen to the records through his system. It only has AUX IN. I either didn't read the specs well or they weren't clear at the time. Also, be aware that the CD-Rs must be Digital Audio CD-Rs. They are not the same as data CD-Rs. Normally, in a store their packaging will say Music CD-R but each individual disk should be printed with the Digital Audio CD-R logo. This caught me off guard. But I went and got SONY Music CD-Rs and it worked perfectly.

Disappointed

drbabys from Columbia, MD, Nov 6, 2008

To record this requires a "audio" CD that is difficult to find. I've read the manual, downloaded a different version from the manufacturer, talked with the manufacturer tech support and still not able to get all the features to work. Some of the directions are conflicting. When recording I can either get a CD with all the LP songs as one track (can't be used for putting a song on my iPod), the CD's won't play in my computer, the track function must be used manually for each track--but even that doesn't work. It took so long to find the correct CD's to use I can no longer return this to Overstock. Again, very disappointing. I wonder if this was a refurb item because other buyers were able to return them.

I love it. Its small enough to take where ever you need to and the sound is better than I thought it would be. it would be nicer if you could adjust the tone. i really enjoy it and it looks real nice as well. i would recommend this to anyone that still has LP's that they would like to record. Pretty easy to use too.
