TEAC delivers!
from Chino, CA,  Apr 9, 2010

The CD player replaces the old one I had and works beautifully. Easy to install. And what a terrific bargain. Others I have checked out were listed at hundreds and played multiple CD's. The only thing is that the remote doesn't have the Open/Close button, but that is OK. Highly recommended

Mixed bag
from Cincinnati, OH,  Apr 8, 2010

Refurbished is good value. This product seems to have been made for multiple-continent use. It has switch for AC 220 or 110 volts, not the norm for U.S. products. As others have noted, this is a CD with few features and conveniences. The "ESP" is active by default when the player is turned on, so if you don't wish to use it, it must be turned off every time (on the remote unit). I noted that this player is one of the most sensitive to skipping when disturbed by even the most moderate bumps. That is probably why the ESP is automatically active (the data stored in the 40 second memory keeps the music from interruption by bumps and jars, should they happen--just as your car cd player seems unaffected by bumps in the road). Other lacking features: no open-close tray on the remote; no volume control on the remote; no A-B repeat mode. However, this CD player will handle MP3 disks, and has "intro check" if you like it. I bought it because it had a very low price, and was adequate for a third or fourth machine in the house. (It replaced a much-loved Sony from the 1980s, that finally gave up.) This machine does not begin to match the Sony or a Denon player I have ($300 range). For casual use, the Teac is OK. I would have bought something like the Marantz 5003, except that the TEAC was less than one-fourth the cost. For that difference, you can buy several of these cheaper machines and compare yourself. You get what you pay for, generally. So, if the machine works reliably, and you don't need the more exotic features, and extra quality, then this is a good buy. If the machine doesn't last a long time, but is reliable, then it is still a reasonably good value, If it fails early on, then I haven't lost much money, and I'll replace it with ??: who knows.

This player is only a 1 cd unit, but for the price and the quality, that's fine. It works great.

GREAT VALUE
Anonymous  from PIKE CREEK, DE.,  Feb 17, 2009

I purchased this unit to replace a cheap DVD unit that I was using to play CD's. It is exactly as advertised; a reasonable price for a good sound system. Do not expect top of the line features, but rather a solid value for the money spent. Easy to set up and operate. Highly recommended for those on a budget like me!

great product
 from calif.,  Oct 12, 2008

This product performs very well. I wish the lettering on the component was gold color instead of white, so it would match the rest of my system. Very pleased.

I replaced a portable CD player with the TEAC deck and was very much impressed. The sound is undistorted, rich and solid. It even played copied or burnt CD's well. I would recommend it.

Product fine; Overstock Problem
 from Michigan,  Dec 6, 2007

Overstock would be advised to make VERY clear that the manufacturers' warranties are NOT in effect. It was a bit of an unpleasant surprise when I unpacked my purchase.
