Introducing a shallow 12-inch chassis design - 37% shorter than its predecessor - RS815 can be deployed with as compact as a 2-post rack or a wall-mount server rack. For companies where space is at a premium, it demonstrates how uncompromising performance and functionality are achievable even within such a small footprint.

Dual core CPU with floating-point unit enhances productivity

RS815 is equipped with a dual-core CPU featuring a built-in floating-point unit which enhances the overall capability of the main CPU, enabling higher working efficiency, while 1GB RAM significantly increases RS815's multi-tasking power. It delivers an average of over 216 MB/sec reading speed, and over 121 MB/sec writing under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows® environment.

Reliable redundancy mechanisms

RS815 comes with dual LAN failover support to ensure continual network service in case of LAN failure, while the hot-swappable design facilitates easy and risk-free hard drive replacement. The hard drive tray lock design further secures your hard drives from unauthorized or accidental withdrawal.

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 accelerates transfer rates

RS815 optimizes your working experiences by enabling faster and more efficient data transfers. To ensure scalability, RS815 provides an eSATA and two USB 3.0 interfaces in the back to speed up data transfer with Synology expansion unit and external hard drives.

Robust scalability up to 8 drives

When the storage capacity of RS815 is nearing its limit, additional storage can be easily added with Synology RX415 expansion unit which provides room for an additional 32TB volume, allowing for a total raw capacity of 64TB . Equipped with specially-designed locking connectors, Synology RX415 can be securely connected to RS815 via an eSATA cable.
