4 out of 5good equalizer, Jun 19, 2008

I bought this equalizer for my stereo (Sony floor speakers for the front channels and Sony bookshelf's for the rear, Sony stereo receiver) and it works great. It really improves the sound of my stereo (and any stereo, of course). The circuitry is very good, there is no noticeable decrease in sound quality. There are a few problems with the unit, however. My standard-sized receiver previously sat on top of a standard-sized Pioneer CD player, and I put the equalizer in between. Unfortunately, the EQ is almost 4" shorter (by shorter, I mean depth) than the receiver and CD player. The EQ is just big enough to hold the receiver; the rear legs of the receiver are right on the edge. Other annoyances include the LED's in the sliders, which are cool, but are set to move through the sliders, or to stay on (very bright), but not off, and the plug is three-pronged rather than two-pronged, so it won't plug into the AC power on the back of a receiver. Still a great EQ though, I would recommend it if you want a better sounding stereo.

I never knew an equalizer could make such a difference in the sound of my music. The lights are very cool, they are like light blue and they really make the unit stand out and gives an accent to my living room. I am constantly getting compliments on it, which is surprising and honestly the last thing I was expecting. Anyway the equalizer has 4 inputs which is great and gives me a lot of flexibility. It is really easy to use and is very small so it doesn't take up a lot of space.
You will enjoy this unit and you will appreciate how much better your music sounds with it.

I recently bought the TECHNICAL PRO EQ-5150 from Overstock and am very pleased with it.
1. This equalizer has 4 inputs labeled DVD, TAPE, TUNER, and AUX. There are two output connections. Here is how I connected it: (my receiver has a ¿tape monitor function¿ which you need to be able to use an Equalizer plus to hear what you are recording). I have a CD file type player, a dual cassette player/recorder, a turntable, large bookshelf Speakers, and an active subwoofer.
Connect the Tape Out of the Receiver to the Tuner In on the Equalizer.
Connect the Output from the Equalizer to the Tape In of the Receiver. (if you have two receiver tape connections use the one with the ¿tape monitor function¿).
Connect the other Equalizer Output to the Line In of the Tape Deck.
Connect the Tape Deck Out (Rec) to the Tape In of the Equalizer
All of these connections are RCA type (the usual red and white plug cables)
2. With these connections you select Tape on the Equalizer with Tape Monitoring on your Receiver for playing tapes. For all your other inputs, select Tuner on the Equalizer with Tape Monitoring on your Receiver and select the input source on your Receiver (e.g. radio, CDs or phonographs ¿ the equalizer lets you adjust the sound to your liking).
3. With the ¿Equalizer switch¿ off, you hear the unadjusted sound based on the Bass and Treble settings of your receiver. The Equalizer really makes a huge difference when on ¿ it is amazing.
The blue lights on the sliders are a pretty blue and gives a stereo system a little character. There are actually two modes for these lights. In one mode they stay on and with the other, they scan rapidly on each side.
In summary, this is a nice equalizer and makes a big difference in the sound. It is an attractive unit. With connections for four inputs and two outputs, it has good utility. It comes with brackets you can attach for rack mounting. I like the blue lights.
