Cerwin Vega CLS-12 12-inch 3-way Tower Speaker

I just bought a pair of Cerwin Vega CLS-12, and I hooked them up to my Sherwood RX4105 105 watt per channel receiver, and they are too loud, and have clear audio, and my ears are ringing. Those 12 inch woofers has too much bass output that they will vibrate your walls in a room, and they will also vibrate your body as well. I turned the bass control all the way down on my Sherwood receiver, and those 12 inch woofers still have a strong punch on the bass output whenever I turned volume up playing music that had a lot of bass. Those 12 inch woofers draw a lot of current and put out a lot output especially around the 60 hertz range, and if I didn't turn my bass control down, my Sherwood receiver would shutdown. My Sherwood RX4105 receiver was design to run speakers with a impedance of 8 ohms or more. Cerwin Vega recommend running a receiver or a amplifier capable of running a speaker impedance of 8 ohms or less on the CLS-12, otherwise, you would not be able to crank up the bass without the amplifier or receiver shutting down. I bought a cheap pair of speakers with dual 5.25 inch woofers for $300, I was disappointed, and I wasted my money and time with them, and they didn't have the loudness, quality, and the bass like the CLS-12, and I blew out a tweeter on my cheap speakers. The CLS-12 is one of the most efficient speakers that I ever owned. You can put a little bit amplifier output in them and get a lot of sound out. If you're planning on playing loud music with a 100 watt amplifier or receiver, I would recommend the Cerwin Vega CLS-12, it is worth every penny, and you will not go wrong. When you do get them, turn your bass control down. The CLS-12 has plenty enough bass, also it has plenty of midrange, and high range audio as well.

excellent sound--crisp, clear, and you can play these speakers as soft or loud as you want without distortion! it's more than enough for my living room, and their design is simple and appealing, so that even though large, they are not visually overwhelming.

Firs thing I noticed is that these speakers are large. Over all I am very pleased with these speakers I have 120 watts RMS from a Yamaha RX-861 and they are very clear and do not distort when you turn them up. They were defiantly worth the price and sound better than many other speakers in a other higher price range.

I had a pair of cerwin vega RE30's for about 10 years and I let my brother have them 4 years ago when I bought the Bose am 16. The bose speakers are nice, but I always thought the cerwin's sounded better and they were $1,200 cheaper. I started looking around on the net for some cerwin vega speakers and wound up here. I was really nervous about buying speakers on the net. well I ordered them and to my surprise I received the speakers in 4 days ( one of the days was a Sun.) I hooked the speakers up and they were better than the RE 30's that I had!! these speakers are the best sounding, hardest hitting speakers and the price is unbeleiveable. BUY THESE SPEAKERS. you'll be glad you did.
