Needed a device to use with my new netbook for occasional dial up connectivity. Modem is as exactly as advertised, compatible with Windows 7 Starter and works great. Since the new PC does not have a drive I contacted the StarTech technical support using the instructions on the packaging and they walked me throught the driver download, install and set-up. They were very friendly/helpful and I was not put on hold.

I purchased this external for a refurbished computer which had on modem. It installed easily and has worked flawlessly.

The modem is very simple to install. Just plug it into a usb slot in the back of your computer, then plug in your phone line. It connects to the internet every time. I would like it better if it had a phone line out slot. That way I could connect a phone to it, but it works well and does what it is supposed to.

received quickly and worked great. I would have liked to have had a few more instructions on how to make your internet connection but I managed to figure it out eventually.
