SDAT Hi-Fi 3-piece Surround Speaker Set

I got to admit that price was the main driver when I got this set of speakers. So, I was not expecting anything near-Bose quality, ok? In fact, I was replacing a nice set of JBL speakers I had for a long time and they were in a pretty bad shape. I did read the reviews and the claims about the poor craftmanship on these speakers and even so, I decided to run my chances. The reviews were right on the money. The speaker came nicely packed, but the quality of material was less than average. While unpacking, I've noticed a rattling sound inside the center speaker. So, I decided to unscrew one of the cones to find out where is rattling coming from. Surprise!, I found several of the screw that were supposed to hold the speaker's cone out of place, but hanging from the cone's magnet. Second, after I removed the cone, I've discovered there were loose "wood" pieces inside the center speaker. Anyway, after this ordeal, I finally put everything together and I must admit the sound was better than I expected. Thank God, otherwise I would have seriously considered to return this set of speakers. One very positive note, they came with a nice long set of audio cables. Bottomline, they are cheap because they CHEAP.

The connectors in the back of the speakers a cheap and the speakers themselves look and feel inexpensive. I wish the center speaker was a little wider and longer so you can place a flat panel tv stand on top of it. Now all things a side the sound quality of the speakers are good for most home owners with home theaters systems you most likely would never tell the difference. Don't purchase the speakers for people the produce their own music because you can notice the difference between the SDAT and High-end speakers.

Entry level product. Great price however and I am pleased with the sound.

this was the second product i bought from sdat. i previously bought the leb-404's and could not be happier with them. this 3-piece set is a tremendous value for the money. i spent months listening to surround sound speakers and was not very pleased with them at all. most of the systems i looked at sounded like tweeters mounted in tin cans. these speakers sound fantastic. the highs are really good and the mids reproduce the lower end of the vocal range nicely. one thing i would like to point out is that this is a surround sound setup, not bookshelf speakers. if you are looking for speakers to use in a 2 channel setup for music i would not recomend these. they only produce high and mid range frequencies which make them great for surround but not so great for main stereo speakers. enjoy!
