Customer Reviews
compared to the previous generation of sony walkman products this spiffy looking little unit simply does not measure up. Everything must be transferred using Sony's proprietary sonicstage software, which is reason enough to give this unit a pass. The one colour display, the counter-intuitive placement of the buttons, and the absence of a voice recorder (previously available) make this walkman very, very unsatisfactory.
I had one of these before and loved it. Great performance, battery life and easy to use controls. The display is not very good in daylight but this doesn't really matter. As long as you use the 3rd party java file managers available on the web this baby is hard to beat !!!Overstock had it for a great price - I am very pleased
While the sound quality is as good as new, the refurbisher did not clear the device from being registered to another Sony CONNECT account, which made it impossible to add it to mine. Since Sony no linger supports the download service, the attempt to register it has blocked one of my five allowable registrations. This affects only purchased music downloaded from Sony. The earbuds supplied are not the ones which came with the unit, but they work well.
My first MP3 Player and it's a success. Easier to use than some of the prior reviews predicted. It's certainly not an I-Pod, but I wasn't expecting it to be. 2 Gigs is way more room than I need for a very satisfactory portable music library. And, I can transfer books on disc to it, as well. It's a very enjoyable toy. I'll take it to Europe with me later this year for musical entertainment while sightseeing. My only disappointment is the FM tuner. It's easy to use but not suited to moving about. My advice is that if one is at rest and finds a powerful station signal, stay put and it's just fine.

I only want to say that the tricky part to learn is to turn it off. *It need NOT be on hold mode* and then you hit home once and leave it be it will turn off in 10 seconds. You can see it happen in the screen. It's light weight and only have about 6 buttons to do everything. Make sure you read the manual then you will know how to operate before you get to the gym. I like watching tv on the elliptical at the gym so this works very well for it. I would buy again and it hold many songs - hours. I don't like how it says the battery drains per the condition of the environment. So to make sure I have enough juice for a work out I always charge before I go. It doesn't take long to charge. I've lasted a week before I had to recharge once. I don't consider this product a risk. *Hold is so no other buttons will be hit & change what your listening to while in a wrist band or pocket during a workout.
