Camera is the best compact camera you can buy. Pictures are sharp, and I can get most of the effects I want compared to my SLR. Camera came in a new factory box but looks like it's the Japanese market version. No English on the box or in the box. That's okay since you can download everything from the internet.
This camera is perfect for carrying it with you wherever you go. It's more compact than my digital SLR but with many comparable features. There is even a feature where when taking a picture, it determines people in the shot and generates a second picture with closer up shots. (Most of the time, the auto-generated pictures were better than the pictures I had taken!)
I asked if there was a USA Warranty. THERE IS NOT. There is no packing slip, Warranty Card, Instruction Manual, or CD with this camera. The Camera Package HAS BEEN OPENED AND THOSE ITEMS REMOVED. The camera was shipped from NJ, had no padding in it, and the camera box was just rattling around inside the shipping box.
I just received this camera by mail today. While it looked like a nice camera, it came with NO warranty in the box and NO manual either. How can overstock.com say this is a new camera?? What brand new camera just happens to be missing the manual and warranty card? I have never heard of that happening with a brand new item. Maybe a refurbished one but not a brand new item. I was told I could contact Sony if I needed the warranty info and I said NO, I should not have to contact Sony for this info It should come in the box. Then I was told they would look for the manual. Again- NO it should be in the box of a brand new camera. I am returning this ASAP and will not purchase anything from this company again because I do not believe they are honest in saying this is a brand new camera. I was told they stand by what they sell and believe it to be brand new as advertised. if you have just one customer saying that a camera was received without a manual or warranty info then that should make them suspicious of where they are getting their stock from. But if you have more than one customer complaining of this then either they are not honest or their supplier is not honest. Either way, I am getting my money back.
Purchased this camera for quality outdoor videos. Sony doesn't tell you that it overheats and shuts off viewfinder (it still records but you can't see what you're recording) in less than 5 minutes. Then you have to argue with them (via call that has been routed overseas) to get them to send to repair facility. They sent us a loner camera but it shuts off, too, and Sony still denies there's a problem with this camera. Don't waste your money. Buy a less expensive camera from a company who cares about customer service. We are now stuck with a camera that doesn't work and Sony says that's not a problem at all.
