I wanted to get an LCD TV while I still had the option (the forced migration to LED has begun). Wanted something good enough to be my main TV for the next decade or more. Was intrigued by Sharp's Quattron tech, but more so after finding it in a favorable price range compared to similar models. After running both TV/DVD and blu-ray inputs through the THX calibration tool (worth the trouble to get blue gel filters for the color test), I must say the picture is outstanding. The added yellow pixel does add a certain warmth to skin tones, nothing dramatic, but when viewed next to other LCD TVs, the others tend to look bluish gray. The picture gets plenty bright with adjustments, I don't see how LED backlighting would improve anything over this model. Motion is crisp w/ 120hz refresh, great TV for gaming. Save your eyes, the research on LED so far isn't comforting. ;) Get one of these TVs at a fantastic price, you'll feel like a real brain.
Sharp Aquos LC40D78UN was the first TV, I ever bought. I chose this this TV for the Vyper Drive Feature that eliminates lag between the console and TV, from what I've seen it works fine. HD Movies on Netflix look great, I couldn't ask for a better picture. tweaking the calibration of the Tv was interesting and experimental, not so simple, but it works just fine. Overall this is a great gaming TV with great features, such as Vyper Drive,Full HD 1080p,120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced - for improved fast-motion picture quality, High Brightness - Sharp LCD TVs are very bright, so you can put them virtually anywhere - even near a window, door or other light source - and the picture is still vivid,Built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC Tuners - provide access to DTV and available analog TV channels, OPC (Optical Picture Control) - automatically adjusts brightness to suit room lighting.

I am not a techy person. the last TV i bought was a 19 inch tube tv. I sprung for this Sony Aquos 40 incher and cannot remember watching TV before this. the picture is amazing, it self corrects for the best picture in low or bright light, it is easy to set up and I hooked up my surround sound and vcr myself--even hooked it up to my spare laptop! I will say that I bought the separate warranty because it is a refurbished item but I still got a terrific deal.
As always Overstock product is as described. excellent tv. , tv is not the best or by no means the worst. I would recommend it as a bargin priced tv.
