Scanners

Now that electronics are replacing most traditional mechanical devices, many of us will need to convert our files into digital files. A scanner will create digital copies of your hard copies, saving you money -- just as Overstock.com will save you money. Scanners are like copiers, except they output a data file instead of a piece of paper. Scanners come in a variety of models, suited to a variety of needs and users.
The most common type of scanners is a flatbed scanner, which looks and works like a copier: Place the page on the glass, press the button and don't look directly at the bright light. Document scanners look like a printer; the pages roll past the scanner head, so you can scan many pages easily. A document scanner may be designed specifically to read text documents. Film scanners are specialized units designed for non-paper items such as slides or transparencies. Many handheld scanners look like large pens; some are large enough to scan a full page of text (8 inches wide) on one sweep.
A portable digital scanner, small enough to take almost anywhere, works well with a laptop. This can be a slim desktop scanner or even a handheld scanner. These scanners are often powered via their USB connection and can be as light as one pound. They are as handy as they are affordable (especially at Overstock.com).
A computer scanner's features vary, mostly with price, but if it meets your needs, it is enough scanner for you. If you need a major color scanner, a big color flatbed scanner is the way to go. If you spend a lot of time out of the office, you'll definitely need a portable scanner. If you think you'll be scanning enough non-paper images to get your money's worth, pick up a film scanner. WHichever one you choose, be sure to shop for scanners and printers on Overstock.com, where you'll always find electronics at discount prices.

  • Best Scanner I've ever used

This scanner is everything you could want. It's fast, easy and compact. The only thing I would probably add to it is support for Paperport.

  • Great scanner for the money!

    jmoney2010  from Washington, DC, Rating:5.0

This product lived up to expectations. It scans single sheets quickly. You have to make sure you line up the paper before hitting the scan button. This is not hard as all you have to do is insert the paper evenly in the slot. If you don't like the image, you can easily scan the document again. We are using this for work when we travel and so far has worked very well. The only issue I have is that it does not have a feeder system. But for this price and compact size, I would not expect that.

  • great scanner for work or home

I'm using this scanner for work and home use. The double sided scanning is as easy and fast as single sided, and you can easily adjust the settings for quality of scan, etc. I am very happy with this purchase. The design of the scanner is also great - it doesn't take up that much space on my desk!

    Good scanner for medical use

    Oct 7, 2011

itbob  from St. Petersburg, FL, Rating:5.0

This is a great card scanner for the medical field. Our EMR supports this one and it will be a ble to do doublesided scanning once we upgrade to the latest version. We use it to scan ID cards and insurance cards into our EMR. We used to use Bizcard scanners and this one is much better.
