There is no better or faster way to deal with large documents. A dedicated scanner is the way to go. Obviously the sticker shock is a bit much - but think about it - how much faster are you when you deal with digital documents than with paper?? The savings add up, and this item is definitely worth it.

So far I love this scanner! It stays in "getting ready to scan" mode a little long, but does a beautiful job - even with 3-dimensional objects.

I purchased this scanner in an emergency. I needed to scan dozens of photos quickly. I knew Epson was known for good scanners and quickly decided on the "middle of the road" scanner. I couldn't be happier. The scanner arrived within days. Setup was extremely easy. Unpack, plug in, install software and go. Within minutes I had scanned my first photo. A little reading was all that was needed to figure out the buttons. Then I was able to scan with a push of the button. Copying was just as easy although I probably won't use this function since I have a copier. Producing PDF files was also easy - something I'm going to find very valuable. I also experimented with the settings and was able to scan some rather old photos and produce very professional results. I'm extremely please with this purchase. The product also came with some Adobe Photoshop which I still need to install.

It is a slim and small device, does the job it's set up to do pretty well. One minor thing about the scanner -a little bit noisy and not the fastest. But we bought this piece of equipment for home use and happy with it.

I purchased the HP G4050 scanjet photo scanner on 11-07-07 from Overstock.com and after using it for a couple of weeks I'm now ready to give a review on it. 1. I contacted Overstock via Live Chat to see if the scanner is compatible with Windows Vista and they told me no. I saw some place via the internet that it is compatible so I shopped for a scanner on HP's website and saw that the G4050 is Vista compatible so I went ahead and ordered it. 2. The installation was so simple and it installed on Windows Vista perfectly. 3. I had an old photo album of my Mother-In-Law's and didn't want to destroy the page with 6 pictures to the page on it but then discovered the scanner separates the pictures for you so you can work with each picture individually without cropping them. The scanner is noisy like all the other scanners I have owned but that is the only drawback I see. 4. Remember to turn the scanner off after your through scanning. Over all this is a great scanner with features on it, for example, it has a PDF button which I like plus the buttons are on the top of the lid for easy access. You won't go wrong purchasing this scanner.

What a total POS. I scanned less tan 100 slides and the bulb failed. I have the skill set to replace the bulb but you can't buy one. HP offers an exchange service but the price for an exchange is more than the unit cost. Why would I consider a replacement unit when I hate the unit I bought? The software that comes with this scanner is also well below industry standards. It is cumbersome and slow. I'm not surprised to see this unit being unloaded by many on line services - it's pretty obvious the scanner is a *** I have been an HP customer for decades but they are now at the bottom of my list. Can you say ZERO support.

This is a great card scanner for the medical field. Our EMR supports this one and it will be a ble to do doublesided scanning once we upgrade to the latest version. We use it to scan ID cards and insurance cards into our EMR. We used to use Bizcard scanners and this one is much better.

This product lived up to expectations. It scans single sheets quickly. You have to make sure you line up the paper before hitting the scan button. This is not hard as all you have to do is insert the paper evenly in the slot. If you don't like the image, you can easily scan the document again. We are using this for work when we travel and so far has worked very well. The only issue I have is that it does not have a feeder system. But for this price and compact size, I would not expect that.

I purchased this scanner because I have thousands of old photos from many generations that I wanted to be able to share with relatives. The scanner produces high quality, crisp images notated the age of the original photo. I think the setup was pretty simple too. Seeing the I Images appear on my screen was exactly what I needed.
