  • Better than expected.

This scanner works perfectly. It's fast and easy to use. The quality of the scans are great. I do a lot of paper stuff that requires copies to be sent via e-mail. So being able to scan to PDF format is a big plus. I am also photographer, I don't scan many pictures but the few I did have to scan, where amazingly clear.

  • Fujitsu Scansnap IX500

If you have a Apple computer you are crippled using this scanner. You can make folders and scan documents to these folders which is what I am doing. There is additional Windows software that I can only imagine is the beauty of this scanner allowing for greatly improved productivity by allowing you to scan multiple documents at once and sort them out into folders. (This is what the video shows on the Fujitsu Website). Not available with a non-windows computer.

Still learning how to use it. So far it working Great, and fast. Having a little problem finding scanned items, I'm sure it's user error.

Not all that pleased with this one, the cost of the device comes with the expectation that you get something without major downsides. I can list some glaring ones. For starters, I have to restart my PC to get the software to recognize the scanner after being idle. This is incredibly inconvenient and a terrible failure on Fujitsu's part. This is with all the troubleshooting they recommend, which boils down to trying different USB ports, and reinstalling the software. A lot of the time documents get misaligned (Receipts in particular) and do not feed correctly, entering the scanner straight and falling into an angle. While the scanner software does correct and straighten documents scanned crooked, it only detects documents coming through the center of the feed tray and stops a scan prematurely if the receipt has fallen out of that sensors view. Keeping the document or receipt straight in the feed tray is very difficult, even with the guides. When feeding a document 14 inches or long...

  • Book Scanning without the Hassle

    Oct 25, 2011

    tmccone  from Newark, DE, Rating:5.0

The obvious advantage of the 4800 is its well designed approach to scanning book pages: Having the scanner glass come to the edge of the unit so that scanning pages without any hint of a binder shadow is simply part of the design is a great idea. Of course, providing the scanner with the ability to scan high resolutions quickly is equally important to the often arduous task of transforming book chapters into Portable Document Files and this scanner provides plenty of speed for that part of the job as well. The inclusion of "Book Pavillion" software to scan multiple pages into a single PDF adds simplicity and speed to the process and automates certain functions such as delimiting the scan area to the book page size automatically, allowing for color, gray scale, and black and white scans on the fly, and making provision for rotating pages to a common orientation before generating the final PDF. The software can even automatically rotate odd or even scans to produce a uniform orienta...
