NOAA Alert Function:
Your Weather Hazard Alert Radio will automatically sound an alert tone siren and flash the corresponding LED color indicator when it receives a weather or civil emergency broadcast from NOAA (Weather Band).
Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.):
Allows you to store up to 25 different location codes into memory. Each code identifies a specific geographic area, typically a county as defined by NOAA. Setting the S.A.M.E. location helps reduce unnecessary alerts.
External Device Compatible and Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS):
The CL-100 has a built-in external alert output jack for other accessories (e.g. hearing / visually impaired , flashing light, indoor / outdoor siren / alarm). You can also set the date, weekday and time on a digital watch manually or automatically by RBDS CT set.

Does what you want it to do. The programming is easy and the alarm can be set to VERY loud if you want it to be heard anywhere in the house. I am glad I have it since it reports before any of the TV stations do, and you don't have to have the TV on to find out a storm is coming. Well worth the investment.

Does all that you would want! We needed to replace a small portable weather band alert radio that was damaged by leaking batteries. After researching as best we could, we found that this Sangean radio, though not a "portable," offered everything we wanted. The radio offers choices not available from others - intensity of warning signals, ability to connect to external warning devices, decent AM/FM reception and sound, and a full display showing the kind of alert being received, as well as a scrolling history of past alerts. We liked the fact that both an a/c adapter and rechargeable batteries are included, and there is provision for AA batteries, as well.

we live in texas with tornados all the time, my last cl100 quit working when plugged in, I ordered a new adapter, that did not help, got tired of battery use...so getting a new one
