Terrific value, I purchased a refurbished model. The sound is terrific, bass is satisfying, works as advertised. I had to purchase a Logitech Harmony remote because the included remote couldn't recognize several of my devices. But overall, definitely worth the money! I also have a Bose Lifestyle system in another room in my home, and this system, for the money, sounds almost as good.

I have a Samsung LED TV and a Samsung Blu-Ray player. The natural compliment was an amplifier with speakers. I selected this system in spite of many negative reviews. The price was right and the specs were very decent. I have not been disappointed. Compared to TV-only sound (which was pretty good by the way), the system is awesome. Great surround sound with crisp placement of discrete sounds on each speaker. The base speaker is amazing but you do need to keep it low or it will blast you away. The system is not perfect, I need to remind it that is connected to my HDMI2 port every time, but that is a minor annoyance. I paid more than the system is now advertised for, oh well.

This theatre system works really great, the sound is perfect and gets really loud, which i like and its a pretty good looking system. My only complaint is that i couldn't hook up my xbox to it and it was alittle difficult to hook up my cable tv to, I had to buy other cables for that. And also had to buy hdmi cables to hook up the blue ray. overall it's a nice system and has been working great for me.

This is entry-level audio equipment. The further you turn it up, the more distortion you'll notice; I especially noticed it in the dialog frequencies, and there's no "punch" to the bass which leaves a lackluster performance for cannon battles or other cinematic explosions. My biggest disappointment, however, has to be the fact that this unit does NO video conversion common on most component systems, and doesn't have any on-screen display for menus/setup. I had expected that the unit would be able to deliver all video over a single connection, but that is not the case. The lack of up-conversion fails to eliminate the need to constantly change input types on the television, and does not help bring older components to life in high-definition. If you have only a few components hooked up directly to your TV with different cable types, you'll discover a need to double the number of cables in order to use this system. You get what you pay for, as they say. If you're after surround sound at this price, you may be better off with an all-in-one home-theater-in-a-box solution because sound will be comparable and you'll get a disk player with one less cable to worry about.

I purchased to take advantage of Anynet . I have a Samsung 50" flat screen and Samsung Blu-ray player. Anynet even turns on the TV when I power up my Directv HD DVR. This is where the problem begins....the documentation for the receiver is weak at best and confusing when you finally find a topic that addresses receiver settings. I also have ordered a Logitech Harmony 700 remote because my Directv remote does not recognize the HT-AS730ST. That defeats the savings of buying the Samsung 730. I recommend Samsung's products to my friends and family but find the HT-AS730ST unacceptable for an uncomplicated solution for bringing together a home theatre system. If I had not gone through all of the install process I would return the receiver (repacking for return is just not worth the time and trouble)....for now I will watch for another option out there and re-gift this one.....
