If you need a camera for Windows 7 this will work well--its small, light and packable. My problem was that I needed a camera for my business *** that works with Windows 8.x. There apparently is not any software support for 8.x--otherwise it is a good deal!
Not a fancy piece of equipment by any means, but for the price it does the job. It can take pictures but they are low quality (but this is a camcorder, so it's meant for movies). The one drawback to using sd card instead of tape is that when you play recordings back, some menu symbols (like the play and pause symbol) appear during the first few seconds (which is a problem if you archive to DVD; but this goes for other camcorders, too; not just this one)
