Yeah, I actually bought 2 of these machines 2 years ago somewhere else. 6 months into it, it started showing it's problems with recognizing certain brands of DVD's. Then 1 year after buying them, the recording featuring for the DVD failed. It plays just fine and the VCR works just fine, but the DVD recorder part failed on both about a year after buying. Haven't taken it to be fixed yet.

This is a basic DVD player and a basic VHS VCR in one box. You can only use one at a time. It works fine for me--I need to play DVDs and VHS tapes occasionally. It does both of those jobs just fine.

The first product received had a loud buzzing noise and didn't function properly. They replaced it and I am not aware of any problems so far. However, the process for getting the extended warranty was ridiculous. I was emailed several times and when I replied Ostock sent error messages each time. This is after I had already spoken with customer service. Their online system needs work.

I only needed a VCR, but could not find one so I decided to purchase this. The buttons on the remote are so small it is hard to read them or hit just one button without hitting the others around it. It was hard to figure out how to program in anything, as there are three screens to go through before getting to the actual programming. With playback, the audio is very quiet and the picture somewhat jumpy for the first few minutes. I cannot rate the DVD part because I have no use for it, but for daily recording, this is okay. It just seems cheaply made compared to my old VCR. It is really light in weight and feels cheap. We will see how long it lasts. My last Samsung lasted 15 years!

The VCR is poor quality and flimsy. I would not buy this, again, from Overstock. The shipping cost is very good.

I don't like to spend a lot of money on dvd/vcr combos due to mine being used be three young kids. They last a good bit but eventually they succumb to many hours and of course kids in general. This is far the best I have had. The interface is very easy to use for all ages. It has more features than those I have had so was able to take advantage of them when hooking it into the system. The kids are loving it thus I am. :-)

we have had the dvd & vhs combo for a couple weeks now it was very easy to hook up , for the money we are very pleased with it. works great. we got a extended 2 year warrenty with it & hope we dont have to use it.

I ordered this DVD player for my father for Christmas. When he got it in the mail, it did not work. The DVD player would not read any DVD. My father purchased 3 new DVD's and the player would not read the new DVD's. We sent it back, got a new one, and the new one played DVD's but has a broken VHS player. It will not eject the VHs he watched. Major hassell. I will not ever buy refurbished equipment from Overstock again.

Player's dvd has not been working continuously. May have to submit it with protection plan if it continues to work improperly.

WORKS OKAY, BUT QUITE A FEW TIMES JUST FREEZES, IT TOOK ME AGES TO FIND THE ZOOM, WHICH YOU HAVE TO GO INTO PROGRAM TO USE IT, INSTEAD OF ON CONTROL... MY SON BOUGHT ME A PHILIPS DVD/VCR FOR CHRISTMAS AND IT IS MUCH BETTER AND EASIER FOR ME TO USE. HAD I KNOWN I WOULD HAVE GOT ANOTHER PHILIPS.

I gave this as a gift. They were extremely pleased. Said was easy to set up and works great.

I have been wanting a combo player for quite some time now and now that I finally have it, i am very happy. The only problem was that the picture shows the player as a silver color, it's not. It is black, now I dont know if it is like this for everyone but just as a heads up it may not be silver. It being silver was one of the reasons i bought it. I like silver instead of black. Its a good thing though that my wife wanted a black entertainment center so atleast it goes well with our new furniture. All in all I am happy with the product and do recommend it, mainly because of its low price.

The DVD portion of this combo will not work. The tray simply will not open. It does not respond to the eject button on the player itself nor on the remote control. I know how to switch between that and the VCR eject button. The DVD tray seems to be stuck or just not responding either way.

They don't work............................ Have purchased one and it gave out just after the 90 Day waranty. Purchased one of different mfg and the same thing. after a third i located the mother company and after one month, there has been no reply. The mother co. FUNAI makes the following brands and not a one should be purchased..... Sylvania...Emerson...Magnavox...Muokai...Ero...Dura Brand...Adventura...Smysphere Beware of them all and there own brand FUNAI

It didn't work and we had to return it. It wasn't listed as a refurbished item on the website. That wasn't in the ad but only listed on the box when it arrived. Maybe that was the problem it was refurbished.

I bought this recently for my grandparents who were unwilling to give up the VCR. I have had the same one for about a year and have had no problems with it. It's a basic, but good quality combo unit. Great price on overstock. It is refurbished, so I hope that this one has no problems

My girl friend has a bunch of her faviorit movies on VHS, but never had a VCR so for Christmas I bought her this and it worked great the only thing I did not like about this product the thing didn't come in its origial box. It was just sitting in a box with some bags of air. I was depressed about that but overall worth buying.

We have been very well sartisfied with the performance and ease of use of this product.

I needed something to get My home movies (VHS) on to my computer but didn't want to buy a VCR as they are pretty much obsolete, but when I saw this VCR DVD combo it made good sense. Seems to work out just fine. It save space and now I can play my DVDs and also can play my old VHS tapes.
