I bought this as a christmas present for my husband. He said Samsung make the best Blu Ray players so I was looking for this brand. He says that it takes a bit to eject a movie and that it is not very compatible with a universal remote but likes that it is upgradable and very stylish.

This is a reliable machine which gets the job done. If you have a Samsung digital TV, you can share remotes, which is a convenience. Performance is a bit slow, but otherwise I have no complaints.

I ordered this, then on a whim, looked up user-reviews on a few web-sites and was dismayed to find so many negative reviews I went back onto overstock.com and ordered the 1500.meantime, this player arrived and guess what.... it is an excellent unit.Sure it is a little slow but the picture and sound are excellent, and it played every Blu-Ray movie I tried on it.It does not have all the features I expected but still, it has a great picture and sound and for the price it is a real deal.I have since received the 1500 and it has a few more features so I will keep that and send back the 1400!Too bad about the lousy reviews...just shows that sometimes you need to try it out yourself!
