I needed a digital camera I could use on motorcycle trips that I would not have to worry about getting wet. I had been looking for a underwater camera housing for several years but they were so expensive. I was pleased to see this camera with housing so cheap. When I got the camera I was surprised at the good quality of the housing and ease of use with the camera. The Housing gives access to all functions of the camera. It has 3 modes, still camera, movie camera and audio recorder. The only problem I have with the camera is 80% of the pictures will be blury if shot in the automatic mode. However in Sport mode the pictures are clear and sharp, and it was difficult to cause a blurred picture while in sport mode. Sport mode has to be activated from a drop down menu each time you turn the camera on. Overall I am happy with the camera, I can take the extra 10 seconds to put it in sport mode if the return is a digital camera that will not quit functioning in high humidity conditions. I think the camera is a good deal and I am pleased with the purchase. It has a lot of fun little features for a camera in this price range. The flash is way better than my HP417 digital camera. I am also a SCUBA diver and not sure the flash would be very good for any distance underwater. The housing does not have a tripod mount in it so hooking up an external strobe would be complicated. It is not a battery hog another good surprise.
I bought this camera for my husband for Christmas. He loves to snorkel in Hawaii and I thought this would be better than the disposeable underwater cameras he always buys. He never took it out of the box and said our son could have it. I packed it for our March Hawaii trip because my husband had no intentions of bringing it. He decided to use it one day at the beach while our son was boogie boarding. We came back to the condo and he reviewed the pictures on tv. They were incredible. The splashes of waves and droplets of water were awesome. Our son took it snorkeling and took a picture of a school of yellow fish that is now being made into a poster. Everyone who saw the pictures could not believe the color and quality. My husband is glad I bought it for him and we used it almost everyday on our vacation. It does get a little moisture from going underwater, nothing major, and it goes through the AAA batteries every couple hours of constant use. It is well worth its price!
Used camera once. After 10 minutes in the water the case began leaking and fried the camera. Case was sealed properly and I can attest that inproper use was not an issue. Buy a better camera or use disposables. I have been informed product is not returnable. Wasted money.
This camera drains batteries quickly. I took three photos and it drained to 3/4. I went through the included batteries in no time. I then used rechargable batteries (energizer). The same thing happened. This is ridiculous. Other than that, it's a decent camera for the price paid. Does this fall under the category of "you get what you pay for?" My other camera (casio, over 5 years old) battery (rechargable) does not drain so fast. Oh well. I wanted a camera to use under water and above. Deciding whether to just return it or not.
I bought this camera because I was tired of spending $10 and up everytime I bought a disposable water camera. Then I had to pay for processing as well. I am also a beginner diver and am not ready to spend a lot on a special underwater camera. This camera fit the bill as something I could use for both. I have taken pictures diving at about 40 feet and they are better than the disposable camera pictures. The housing did not leak and the camera stayed dry. Also I do not have to worry about how many pictures I take since it uses an SD card, so I figure it will pay for itself pretty quickly that way. I have used the camera without the waterproof housing in the house and am not impressed at all with the pictures even with the flash, and it does go through batteries quickly.Bottom Line: For what I wanted and the price I paid, I am pleased with this camera. I would have been disappointed if I had wanted a camera for everyday use.
I said it above. All that i have to say about the camera.

Went to Barbados and wanted to take underwater pictures while snorkeling - this camera was easy to use, easy to manage and lots of fun - and it took great pictures.

The only thing I would recommend if you purchase this is to play around with it in a pool. There are some settings that can make the pictures turn out awful. If you spend an hour or so messing around with the settings you should have no problems taking great digital pics underwater with this camera.
I bought this camera for my husband for Father's Day & it's definitely worth the money especially if you have children. It's loads of fun & the kids get a big kick out of seeing the pics of themselves underwater. The quality of the photos is much better than expected, even good! I would have given it a 5 except for the fact that it takes batteries, oh well!
I bought this camera to take pictures while snorkeling in Mexico. I wish I had known to put it in "sport" mode because some of the pictures came out a little blurry - but it holds so many pictures with the addition of a memory card (600 on the highest quality setting) that it really wasn't a big deal. This camera was also great to take around the beach and the pool to take pictures without worrying about the camera getting wet.
we returned from a trip to the Caribbean and we got this camera for underwater use. after i read the reviews I was a bit skeptical . but i went ahead and got it. wow what a buy. i got a great deal. we used it plenty of times in the beach, pool, and while snorkeling. just make sure that you don't move the camera too much while taking pictures outside water, the pictures stretch out...its weird.. but overall great buy.
Took it snorkling in Hawaii..good photos...good video of fishes, sea turtles, corral reef. Considering I could have spent much more $$$. This was a good buy...very happy with quality for the $$$ spent.
It work great under & even above water pictures come out great easy to use.
Great camera for the money take time to read the owners manual and have time to play with it before you take it any where and you will do fine. you might get blurry pics at first but if you read and play with the camera this is easily over come
I purchased this camera for taking pictures while scuba diving in the Red Sea. It is quite inexpensive compared to other underwater cameras; however the quality of pictures is much better than I expected. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, good quality underwater camera.
I got this camera right before a trip to Cozumel. I used it during scuba diving and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the photos. Nevertheless, don't forget that this is a 5 MP digital camera, with no optical zoom - so don't expect the same quality photos you'll get from a SLR. The camera has a slight tendency to oversharpen and oversaturate (which is ok if you like the "Kodak Velvia" look). The flash is rather useless underwater, so you'll want to turn it off if used underwarer, especially if good light is available. The movie mode is usable, and it records both audio and video. Overall, I enjoyed the camera and the price is hard to beat - it was what I expected and it performed well within its stated parameters. Took it down to almost 30 ft and there was no water leakage or any other problems with the camera or the housing.
Took this camera to Hawii, Awsome!!!! best bang for the buck. 200-300 beatiful underwater pictures.I am very pleased with the product and the timley fashion of shipment.
The camera arrived in good shape and as advertised. Out of the box, it takes a short time to get used to as the instructions are somewhat spartan and on a disk- ( printed them off 3 pages). However, after an hour it was pretty straight forward. I bought the camera for an upcoming trip to Hawaii so I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet underwater hence the "partial" revue. So far, it has worked very well and am looking forward to trying it out swimming with the sharks...
Thank you for an easy, pleasant transaction. Excellent buyer. A++++++
You really do not want a review from me? I was disappointed. It is a good little back up camera I suppose? I already had an underwater camera that had half the resolution of this one and which could not play back on the TV. This one could play on the TV and had twice the resolution of the camera that I had so I had hopes for it? It plays on the TV alright, but the words show on the screen and I can not get them off. The twice the resolution I had hoped would be good for the video because my regular video camera will not work in high humidity and the underwater that I have does, of course, and the video is good, but with this at twice the resolution I had hoped it would be better, but it it not surprisingly?? I am sure that you do not want to use my review Thanks Ron
