Limited functions but does the job well. Note the output file from this camcorder is .MOV. If you are looking to do any type of editing, you probably will need a software to do so. The software that comes with the camcorder allows to play and post to Youtube only. However, for daily recording purpose, you can't beat the value.

This is a cheap camera so don't expect high quality crisp stable images...but for the bargain price it's a fantastic product!!! The photo taking capabilities aren't very good either, but I bought it solely for video so I didn't care if it even took photos. I do highly recommend a tripod for this camera and thankfully this model has the standard mount for it (some other SVP low end models don't!). You will get MUCH better quality from a stable mount, but hand held video is still a little blurry and shaky even with the pistol grip design. Also recognize that with one 8 gig card you only get about 2 hours of full HD, although the battery can go much longer on one charge.Having said that I still actually love this camera.For what you are paying for the video looks great and is pretty simple to use. I hold back 1 star for one reason only: The lens is too tight for small room indoor video. When trying to video Christmas morning this year I found it very hard to stand back far enough to get more than one person in the frame. I suppose the tight lens is good for high-res close-ups or if you're stuck videoing from afar, but I wanted this camera for quick moments with my toddler which means standing close in normal sized rooms. I can live with it, but it would be nicer if it had a wider lens.I also find it awkward getting to the USB plug to charge because you have to open the camera to do so. The camera turns on automatically when you open it which is nice normally but a pain when all you want to do is download or charge. It also means you can't close the thing up while any cable is attached which is annoying, but acceptable.The good stuff: Pivot video screen is very nice and will flip the image if you turn it facing front to get you in the video and still see what you are getting. It also folds down nice and will continue to record when folded down the right way. The pistol grip is easy to hold and the camera is nearly weightless. It turns on automatically when you open it and is only a few seconds and one button press from in the pocket to filming. Turns off when you close it. IT'S FULL FRIGGIN' HD (1080p)!!Overall if you're looking for a low/budget spur of the moment "candid" type video camera it's a great device. If you need better quality with more zoom options and IS then you'll need to buy something around triple the price!

This camera was a Christmas gift for my 10 year old grandson. He absolutely loves it! The ease of operation was 5 stars. It was easy to use and handle. He picked up on the features like a champ and was video-taping our holiday gathering within minutes. They have used the camera on their family vacation just after the Christmas holiday and everyone in the family has enjoyed the camera and love watching the recordings! Price, delivery and ease of use were highly rated by all! Thanks!
