My idea was to have something which could function as an 8 megapixel camera, with the video as a bonus. Without a flash or any means of illumination, it is impossible to get a quality still picture with this camera - even with the flimsy throw-away tripod included in the package. The video is grainy in anything but full sunlight, and then the picture gets washed out, and any bright spot overwhelms the exposure control. This is really just a toy - I could not see it being used for anything but the most casual home-video. Once again I learn the hard lesson - you get what you pay for with bargain electronics.
Except the batteries didn't last very long. Only about an hour then we had to change them out.
Good buy for a beginner and has great image. My only knock would be volume control on playback on camera.
