Exactly what I wanted
 from NY,  Oct 3, 2010

This scanner allows me to scan and save old slides, negatives, and several sizes of photos to a memory card with very little difficulty. After a short, steep learning curve (I am almost 60) I have filled 4 memory cards. I was then easily able to save them to my computer. I have all my Mom and Dad's items ( including WWII slides and pics) that are now saved from further "decay". All the kids sports photos, etc. are on a memeory card or external hard drive and I can now store the "hard copy" of each safely without having to organize the boxes to find something. It was easy to use, great quality to each type of scan. The best part was I researched the internet myself (no childrens help) and found just what I wanted and needed. Great item.

this scanner is very easy to use. I scanned family slides. you scan three at a time but it goes quickly. the slide container is a bit flimsy and I am not optimistic it will hold up. Overall very good.

Digital phote/slide scanner
from Canyon, TX,  Sep 30, 2010

This scanner is wonderful. My husband and I have been scanning photos and slides from our family heritage and many are 50 to 100 years old. We have been making slide shows using the 2GB card plugged into our computer and there are some tear-jerking moments as we view them. I recommend this little machine to anyone wanting to preserve or create family heritage. Try it, you will love it.

I have lost several pictures, they fall off the panel. Negatives don't fit right and constantly have to ajust the film which takes forever to do.

Get what you pay for
from boscawen, nh,  Apr 19, 2011

Its a bit cheesy, tedious loading pic's in and out, have to adjust settings to get frame out of copy. Hopefully newer pics will be better color wise

Great Buy
 from 74074,  Feb 10, 2011

Love it! We bought this a couple of weeks ago and it has been fun! I am scanning the hundreds of photos we have and making up "electronic" albums which will be given to each of our family members. I am also working on an album for my high school class since our 40th reunion is coming up. Some of the albums are going on Facebook, others will be saved on a USB drive to be used on a digital photo frame. This is a great tool and I've already used it alot! The pics come out fine and there are so many photo applications online that doing any special effects is really simple. I have even scanned some pics of our family from the 1800s. Love It!!!!

Not worth it
 from OH,  Dec 27, 2010

The quality of the "scanned" photo was terrible. Very blurry even on the best setting which there were only two choices . Very disappointed in product. I will use my desktop scanner. Don't waste your money. Not even worthy of a one star review.

Easy to use and easy to transport, BUT does not replace the good ole' scanner for the large and very small pictures. I am doing a family picture project with pictures 90 years old etc., and the SVP PS-9700 only takes 3 standard sizes. But for usual projects would be a great asset.

SVP PS-9700
 from Idaho,  Feb 27, 2012

I bought this item so I could scan and preserve 1100 slides that my father had. I had tried my flatbed scanner which of course didn't work well at all. I was hesitant to spend money on a product I knew nothing about and was owned by noone I knew. However, I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase, as I scanned and committed to my computer all of the slides in four days, working only a few hours each day. The simplicity and speed at which I did this project, and the perfect final results thrill me. This scanner was so easy to set up and use, and works wonderfully well. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who wishes to preserve from slides any precious family heirlooms and memories. I even scanned some old negatives I found, which being negatives was not so great, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was able to tell what the subject matter was. Some of the pictures from the late 30s and early 40s I had never seen before, and now I know which ones to have printed. I am so glad I bought this, and I suspect I will have plenty of family members who will want to preserve their slides as well.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Product was exactly as described
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Totally free of defects or problems
