slideconverter
from Portsmouth, VA,  Nov 26, 2010

This works very well for converting color slides to digital media. I haven't tried using the photo conversion feature yet. My only problem so far is understanding the instruction booklet. It needs to be rewritten to explain how to use the exposure and playback features.

Slide scanner
 from NH,  Mar 22, 2011

I purchased this item in order to scan old slides. It is very easy to use and I have been using it often. The picture is deceiving however. It leads one to believe that the slide is viewed in a large display. The slide display in on the face of the scanner (slide size)

Disappointed
from North Stratford, NH,  Apr 17, 2012

I was very disappointed in this product. It seems as though it is simply a camera in a box. The problem is that on some of the pictures, you can actually see the image of that camera. I will be returning it.

Very good product for the price
 from Vermont,  Mar 6, 2012

This actually does a very good job in copying slides and photos. I have slides that have deteriorated with age, and this converter was able to copy them very well and with my photo program on my computer I hve been able to reproduce some pictures I thought were lost. However, thre instructions for slides were not quite complete and it required a little trial and error at first. The instructions were obviously written by a pertson whose first language is not English which I find annoying but anyone with some common sense can figure it out.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Image was accurate
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? yes
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Lightweight and cheaply made, but works well

Don't Waste Your Money
from Chicago, IL.,  Mar 3, 2012

I've returned this product as it is a complete waste of money. The resolution is unbelievably poor. I can get better resolution using my printer and/or taking a picture of the picture using my iphone. Additionally, the 4x6 frame did not fit my 4x6 pictures. I had to use the 5x7 frame to scan a 4x6 picture and the picture got stuck inside the machine with no way to remove it.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? This was accurate
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Extremely poor resolution

slide scanner
 from Arizona,  Feb 28, 2012

The instructions were somewhat lacking, but I figured it out enough to do what I needed to. Did't realize the big screen was the photo scanner . . . would have gone with a smaller model as that was not needed.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Good
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? yes
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. reasonable

It takes time for an old luddite to get the hang of the process, but records of the past are being saved! The film and slide frames are difficult for old hands!

Works amazing well
 from MD,  Jan 19, 2012

My project is to digitize thousands of slides and photos from 50 years of collecting. This product has helped me move through that project with amazing speed. Easy to use; Great results; It feels lightweight and almost toy-like but does exactly what I wanted it to do at a great price. Much cheaper than using a slide/photo commercial converting service.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Accurate image matching the product
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. It feels a bit light and flimsy but works as promised

SVP PS-9700 3-in-1 scanner
from Melbourne, Fl.,  Nov 24, 2011

I've used this product to scan 35 mm slides with great results. It's not a precision machine, but all and all it does a pretty good job considering my slides are over 30 years old. It's nice because now i have the ability to share these photos electronically with friends and family.

from Oradell, NJ,  Nov 11, 2011

Bought as a Birthday gift for my husband, he does his homework on items he wants to buy, and this was something he was going to buy. This is a nice one because it does slides pictures, and movies. I can't wait to give it to him, he's going to love it!

Excellent Scanner...Poor Instructions
from Bostic, NC,  Nov 8, 2011

Thid scanning system works extremely fast, pefrorms editing in a very acceptable manner, and it is easy to place the scanned product into the file that you want. I have sed the slide aspect extensively and the picture aspect somewhat less. However, the system works without any problems. This companies only fault is the technical writers who authored the Instruction Manual. It is hard to understandand needs serious revision. Other than that, I highly recommend this scanner.

Hopeful
 from Kitty Hawk, N.C.,  Aug 23, 2011

This was the second time I ordered this product. The first one didn't work at all, and the second one I ordered as a replacement only worked on "photos" vice film as we; I did so look forward to having a means to process all my slides and photost. However, I am greatly satisfied with the replacement policy and method that Overstock has. It is easy to use and hassel free.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? As depicted
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No. Both original and replacements received were defective.
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Didn't work, so can't describe quality

Looking for the box to send it back.
from Tampa FL,  Aug 10, 2011

Even with a manual, this one is a DIY nightmare. Purchased it to help archive all our family photos. There is not a way (per the manual or the adjustments available on the unit itself) to improve quality or clarity of the captured image. I am going back to the long, slow use of our flatbed scanner. Very disappointing.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? The image holders are flimsy - and when the photos fall out while inside the scanner - no way to retrieve.
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Apparently.
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. For those images that did not fall out of the flimsy holders, the quality of the digital capture was very poor.

Slide copier
from Bryn Athyn, PA,  Jun 7, 2011

This is a very nice product and is easy to use. It is a little short on really good color transfer to the digital version but at least I can now get my precious slides on my computer where I will see them more often!!!

Digital Photo /film/slide Scanner
from Lake in the Hills, Illinois,  Jun 3, 2011

Highly efficient and useful for scanning large batches of photos etc. Resolution and quality of scanned images is noyt quite as good as I have experienced with flatbed scanning, but the convenience is immense. Considering these limitations it still represents good overall value, and Overstock delivery is always a plus.

Poor quality and not per specification
from San Diego, CA,  Jun 3, 2011

Thought this was a great idea as it could be used as stand alone and then transfer the images via an SD card to the computer. Quick and easy to use, although seeing how quickly it "scanned", I was a little concerned about how good the picture could possibly be. Spent an hour or more "scanning" photos of Egypt which had been taken with an SLR camera. When I uploaded into iPhotos...wow, what a disappointment. Color was grainy and there was an oval dark spot in the centre of every photo. When my husband came home, he "scanned" a sheet of white photo paper and ran some diagnostics for color image which showed an hour-glass shape of color distortion. The booklet stated the color depth/output was 12 bit, but further reasearch showed it was only 8 bit. I wasn't expecting professional quality for the price, but pictures should at least be fault free. Don't waste your money.

  • Did the image onsite match the product? Yes
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No
  • How is the quality of the product? Quality of digital images created is very poor.

Great Item
from West Texas,  Feb 7, 2011

I'm amazed on how quick this scanner is. Been scanning B&W negatives and it works great. The instructions are a bit vague, but its so simple to figure out. Only 1 problem, some images went into the built-in memory because I didn't insert the memory card in tight. After I figured that out, it turns out there is an icon on the screen to let you know if its in. Other than that, its a great little machine and far easier to use than a flatbed.
