SVP FS1860 35mm Negative Film/ Slide Scanner

Pros: Easy, Quick, no tray to load Cons: Washed out results (needs a brightness setting) The SVP FS 1860 is super easy to use. I scanned a roll of film in less than 5 minutes after opening the box. If it had a brightness setting, it would be a very nice product. All the images I scanned were washed out. Inserting extra negative material part way into the field of view adjusted the exposure, by darkening the image, and fixed the problem. Unfortunately, it also obscures part of the image. No need for trays to scan negatives. After reading reviews of other products with difficult or flimsy trays, I was excited to have a product that loaded the negatives in the same way that a 35mm camera would. Placement of the gears could be improved so that the feed wheel could control the film position while the negative was being scanned. For the last frame of every strip, the negative was disconnected from the gear. It is based on a Zoran COACH digital camera kit (that's the info from the jpegs I got.) I would recommend using the 5 MP setting. The interpolation to 10 MP made the image seem less sharp. I ordered the one with a 4GB card, which worked very well. Specific to the one I received (hopefully): The USB cable it came with was broken, but it was standard, so I used another I already had. The transparent guides that hold the negative strips in place were scratched and dirty.
