The product for the price does a decent job creating a digital image of slides (or negatives, although I haven't tried this). The manual has a bit to be desired, but I, after some trial and error, figured it out...for someone not real computer savvy, it could be a bit frustrating. The images were fairly decent...some had to be tweaked by image software, but I think it was more the fault of the slide than this device. It does a pretty good job self adjusting to the slide image (as far as darkness or lightness) and there is some limited editting that can be done before saving the image although I found it easier to just create several digital images and edit them later in other software. I think it was well worth the price and have had a blast converting slides to digital.
Everything worked great except for the SD slot. It's hard to get the card out.
My new scanner is working fine now but I have comments on the startup and user friendliness. The manual describing operation is very poorly written. It doesn't describe all the features and how to access them. For example, it isn't clear as to whether to use the memory card icon or the camara icon for storing info. It needs a step by step description of how to operate. Secondly, I found that the SC memory card did not stay inserted far enough to record info. After accidentally discovering how to keep it inserted full depth it works fine. Once it is programmed for a specific function it scans quickly and produces a good quality print from the SC card. The color reproduction isn't perfect but adequate for preserving the picture.
The SVP Digital Film 35mm Negative/ slide Scanner is a very nice product for the price. Extremely easy to use by using either the memory card or USB connection. I bought a competitors model ( I don't want to say the name but the initials are BROOKSTONE) and it hasn't worked since day one. For just about the same money, this one beats theirs hands down
Saw product and recommended it to a friend who bought it. I liked the fact that you did not need software to use it and bought one for myself. Tried it on a few slides / negatives and was pleased with the results. Would like to be able to purchase extra slide / negative holder as it would make the job alittle faster. It will be a winter project and I will give another review after I use it more.
SD card works. Super fast shipping. Good communications. Thanks. A+++++
