Works well for price
 from California,  Mar 29, 2012

My hard drive was supposed to fit into this 2.5 inch enclosure- but it doesn't fully fit into this one. I can't actually close the enclosure but my main need was to be able to get the files from this hard drive and I was able to do that using this enclosure. The SATA parts were able to connect and I was able to access the hard drive connected to this item. Perhaps, a smaller or different model HD would fit better into this item. It's alright though, like I said, my main concern was being able to access the photos, videos and music on the HD and I was able to do that with this device.

Works as described!
from Edmond, Oklahoma,  Mar 8, 2012

I use these kind of enclosures all the time. I was very happy to find them so inexpensive on O'stk.com. It work as promised. There are no instructions, but it isn't too hard for a newbie to figure out how to use it. The only "problem" I ran into: The frame was just a hair on the tight side. An X-acto knife fixed the issue quickly. 1 of the 4 screws was missing. (they hold the drive securely to the frame) Again, not a big deal I have a bunch of extra screws. The usb cord was in perfect shape and the enclosure fired right up on the first try.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Great, in fact a felt bag was included. (which was not shown!)
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes it was
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The drive fit was a tad tight. but it wasn't a big deal.

Nice case for an upgraded laptop drive!

Works fine; easy to install the drive. Upgraded sort of slow laptop to solid state drive and this case now holds the original.

Bang for the buck
from Ashburn, VA,  Jan 26, 2012

This unit as I received was in a excellent condition. For the price I paid for this product this was a great deal. People, if you have your old laptop HD lying around but want to put them to good use, well here is your answer. The casing looks cheap, the product works fine. Getting the adapter on the hard drive was a breeze, but setting the whole thing into the case was teeny weeny little cumbersome. I really like the product and so far it's working like a champ

Nice Hard case, but not what I was expecting. I thought the description said IDE/SATA to USB, not SATA to USB. I currently have no use for this case

I am totally impressed. When asus pc burned, literally Best Buys said it would cost $150 to recover the files. I spent $7.50 on a drive kit and watched a youtube how to video and retrieved everything myself.

Didn't work at all
from New York, NY,  Nov 3, 2011

Though the specs indicated that it would take and work with any IDE or SATA drive, it didn't work with any of three drives I tried it with--both Windows and Mac. Too bad, because I would like to use those drives, which hold lots of files and programs.

Simplicity
from Gainesville, FL,  Mar 18, 2011

If all you need is a somewhat sturdy shell and a usb connection to transfer files to and from a SATA drive, THIS is your low-cost solution!!! Worked like a charm without shelling out the BIG BUCKS.

Device did not work from the very start. I will be returning. Apricorn cable from Best Buy is so far the best option.

I love the drive casing. Now tell me you carry the drive to put inside the drive case. Or where I can find them.
