These speakers are made to match the LEB-405 speakers also sold on Overstock. Like the 405's, these are just the entry level SDAT speakers, and while they look nice, they feel a litle cheap, but the sound quality is much better than the build quality and I don't think anything in this price range can compete with the sound of thes speakers. I bought the Beech colored model and my wife loves the look of them. If you buy the 404's and the 405's then you have got a perfectly voice-matched 5.1 suround system. I used these to replace a more exspensive Sony system and am always please at how loud they can get when the movie soundtrack or musice demands it. I have never heard any distortion out of these. The driver quality is without a doubt superior to Bose. I use a subwoofer, but these do put out very warm sounding bass on their own. I seriously doubt that these produce frequencies as low as 20Hz, but very few speakers do, and they certainly cost many times more than these do. In reality, most musical bass that we hear rarely if ever go lower than 40Hz, so this isn't a problem. Besides, like I said, My subwoofer nicely fills in the extrem bottom range of any soundtrack.

The CAT SDAT LEB-404 speakers are excellent. They look good (the black version) and sound great. I continue to be surprised by the surround sound effect from two speakers. I am hearing things that I never heard before from the music and television programs I listen to.

These speakers are awesome for the price and they look really nice as well. I bought the black and natural two toned colored ones and they in my opinion look nicer than just having black ones. Excellent sound quality...can get veeeeeerrrrry loud with little or no noise distortion. These were developed and made in Germany. Don't miss out on a great deal. I received them within a week, took them out of the box and a few minutes later i was listening to my favorite music. Highly recommended...

For those who are on a tight budget but are looking for decent sound, then these speakers are for you! These speakers handle abuse well on the lows and mids. I strongly suggest buying a second resistor for the tweeter of the same value as the first resistor. Connect the resistors together --000--/---000--- and then reconnet to the tweeter. This will balance the mids and highs beautifully. This will also prevent your tweeter from blowing out. Heck what's an additional $2.00 investment for great sound?! The other thing is that these speakers do not naturally push out a lot of bass and are perfect for apartment goers as they give you good sound control. Last, these speakers are not Magnetically Shielded but the magnetic field is not strong and will not affect the television at close range.

Great pair of speakers. Good sound. The dual woofers give plenty of bass depth. Mid range and tweeter are great too. I am powering the speakers with a Denon receiver. Be sure your amp/receiver puts out 80 or more watts. These speakers are 6-Ohm. They need the power and they can handle it!

When I shopped for my first set of speakers in 1980, there were two types of speakers: (1) Good speakers that were costly and (2)Mediocre speakers that were the staple of guys with mullets and defective Camaros. These speakers seem to be the modern version of type 2. They look better than they sound. On the other hand, they seem worth $81, or maybe a little more.To my dismay, one of my speakers arrived with a small ding in the plastic/wood cabinet.

I got these speakers with the intent of using them as my suround speakers, but I was so inpresed with the sound they have found a spot up front for now. They have very good sound and lots of bass for the size and price. My only complant is that at loud volums the tweaters are over powering and it dosn't have a soft smooth sound. But for the price you get one very nice speaker. Would deffinetly buy again.

These speakers were well worth every penny I spent. In a surround sound system they will provide you with things you didn't know you could hear. And when used just as stereo speakers, well you could say I am quite happy with my purchase. I have even been able to turn off my subwoofer and get almost as much base out of the built in subs. My advice, if you're on a budget and need good speakers, buy these.

I stumbled onto these speakers quite by accident while looking for something else on Overstock. When I saw the price of these and also the price of the companion LEB-405 surround package, I thought 'why not'. In the past, I would never buy speakers without hearing them first. But, I figured they couldn't be too bad for the money. Well, I'll say that these speakers produce sound that is simply phenominal. I am hearing music from recordings for the very first time, even though I may have heard these same recordings a hundred times. I am having a great time listening to my music collection again for the very first time. I couldn't be more pleased. I would say that you need to get the LEB-405 package as well to fully appreciate the performance.

Great deal ,clear solid sound. Instructions are in German but no problem hooking this bad boys on in a matter of seconds.Natural wood is the way to go and so long " got to get back to some Led Zepplin". D.P. in El Paso ,Texas.

well i certainly wasn't expecting much for 79.00..but when i hooked these up i was astounded!...they are very nice sounding and im very pleased with the sleek look they have..i would tell you to buy these..you can't go wrong for the price!...Thank You Overstock :)

This is an AWESOME PAIR of speakers! Made in Germany and they LOOK GREAT TOO. I got the light wood finish and am VERY tempted to get a second pair at this price. The sound is wonderful and I replaced my aging, HUGE, BOXY, 80's era CERWIN-VEGA's with these! I'm a Deadhead and a rocker. If you are either of these, then THIS is your choice. THANKS Overstock! This is a great pair of speakers.Very loud an they have a big bass sound.

Even though there is not a massive amount of bass with these speakers, (regardless of your receiver) they are still a great set of speakers. I used them as bedroom speakers with my receiver and cd player some years ago (3 or 4 years) and they are still holding up strong.

These speakers rock and bump! Unbelievable price for these party rockers! I have even used them outside on the patio at a few BBQ's! Look great too!

These speakers are very good. I plan on getting two more to balance the sound in my living room. A very good buy.

I have heard many different brands in many different price ranges and these speakers sound just as good if not better than some which cost 3x as much. The speakers arrived undamaged with speaker wire in case you don't have that on hand. Attachment to my Denon AVR-787 was simple and straightforward. The speakers have a 6ohm impedance which means the receiver pushes 120watts per channel. In a room with a ceiling that ranges from 8 to 18ft in height, this setup fills the space nicely with clean undistorted sound. I would not hesitate to buy this brand again.
