I read reviews on these speakers and some where great and some where not so great. The not so great compared these speakers to other speakersthat cost over $1000 so I don't think it was even relevant. As for me, I have had a 7 speaker system in my living room with 2 lef and right speakers being regular shelf speakers that would produce the deep sound....but oh man, after hooking these baybes up to my receiver and testing them with a good ol' song (Prodigy) and WOW is this a great set of speakers for $100!!! Why pay $40+ in shipping other places when here it is about $3!!! Incredible!!! I am totally satisfied with this purchase!

I received my SDAT speakers and am very surprised by the sound quality. The sound is clean, rich, full and distortion free. They seem to have a nice balance of highs, mids, and lows. My speakers are connected to an Onkyo receiver. The rest of my equipement (TV, CD/DVD player, etc) is Samsung. If you are looking for good sound quality at a very affordable price, this is the speaker for you. However, there are a couple other things to note. When my package arrived, the exterior box was in moderate condition. I was concerned about what I would find when I opened the package. To my surprise, there was more than sufficient interior packaging to protect the product. One speaker had a slight nick on the front. This did not appear to be related to the shipping process. I think it left the manufacturer this condition. However, I was able to buff out the nick and match the color with a stain pen. It only took a few minutes to make this minor cosmetic repair. I don't think anyone would notice, even if I pointed it out. Overall, I am very pleased with this product. It does include speaker cable and connection is very easy. You will need a wire stripper/cutter to prepare your wire for connection. I am considering a second set of speakers and an amplifier to provide a better surround sound experience. With respect to the appearance of these speakers, the photo on the website is insufficient. They look much better in person.

Bought these for my small family room set up and was not expecting too much but I was very pleasantly surprised. The sound reproduction is very good and reasonable bass response considering the size of the drivers. The mid range response is remarkably good and reproduces voice and guitars perfectly. Simply, for the price you can not do better, in fact you would pay much more for speakers that do not perform as well as these with most name brands. Only flaw is the grills, the cord design seems cool but is not functional or durable at all. Still recommend these highly.

Factory packaging was inadequate, O'stock's shell doesn't address the issue, as a result the speakers were able to bounce off each other in transit, resulting in some noticeable damage on the back half of one the top corners, but you have to look for it so it's not worth the hassle of returning or making an insurance claim. I did address the issue with SDAT in regards to the realities of UPS ground rugby. Out of the box, these speakers are substantially darker in finish than pictured, a dark brown bordering on black. And the drivers are silver, not white. I actually like the look better. The 6.5" drivers are a stiff paper cone (painted silver) of average construction and quality, the tweeter is a 1" fabric dome. The enclosure is combination air suspension/ported design with one woofer in the sealed portion, the other in the ported, with respective bandpass and lo pass crossover points. As expected the enclosure is cheaply made, 3/8" particle board with "shelf paper" veneer. The grill is neat though, elastic cord stretched between stringers, purely cosmetic, but cool looking. Despite the cheap construction, it doesn't look cheap, over all it's something I like having in my living for the holidays just because of the way they look. Down to sound., one would expect a somewhat boomy sound in the 100Hz range with not much seat of the pants presence, surpringly the bass is smooth and clean with a distinct lack of resonance at any frequency and at the proper listening distance, there's a very satisfying low end capability. Overall this a very clean, pleasantly smooth sounding speaker for a small to medium room with enough punch for people not looking to suffer hearing loss.

I am a Audio/Video Engineer. I have designed and built Pro-Audio & Video systems for over 15 years... I ordered 2 sets of these speakers. I hooked them up and was totally taken back at the frequecny response and sound depth that came from them. I Also read all the reviews on this site.... I must have lucked out, my speakers were in excellent condition and worked beyond my expectations. Thanks Overstock.

I am listening to the speakers now. These speakers are just what the doctor ordered. I wake up in the morning listening to them , in the evening until I get ready for bed.If you want speakers with no problems just pleasure buy these.By the way , they are space savers that fill your ears with excitment.

After reading about the damages others experienced with the delivery of these speakers, I was pleasantly surpised when mine arrived with only a screw missing from one of the woofers. I found the scew in the box and replaced it, otherwise there was no damage at all. I am pleased with this purchase. The sound quality is very good and has enhanced the surround sound system on big screen HD set. The apearance of the speakers is not bad either. But what really makes this such a good purchase is the price...it can't be beat.

I just got these speakers only 5 days after ordering. Once again O/S has treated me with respect. Something I have not seen with internet purchasing. I'm really a non internet buyer because lately I've taken some serious and expensive beatings. O/S has always been great. My Speakers came with NO problems. Not even a scratch! The sound is fantastic. I've owned so many sets of speakers, advent, polk audio, JVC.... These are great speakers and the price is unbelieveable. Some modern stuff is great, these remind me of my polks. I listen to so much live music, Grateful Dead, Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros.... and finally a true and unmuffled sound. Clean crisp highs, symbols splash, and bass that's responsive but not overbearing. I put them on my surround sound and partied until 4:00 this morning. Dead and Margaritaville channels. Honestly that good. My brother just spent $1800.00 for great speakers but I'd rather have 4 of these for a fraction of the cost. After all the ear can only hear so much. I am a part time musician and can honestly say buy these, they're worth every cent. You can get better, but I do wonder if needed. You get more than what you paid for and that says it all. Keep on keepin' on..........

I did not expect these speakers to sound as good as my 15 inch woofer, 3-way speakers I purchased in 1980. I was surprised however at their power handling capability. Although they don't have great frequency range, they can be played loudly. Don't expect deep, rich bass or super crisp highs. However, for the price, you can't go wrong. I'm using mine as a back pair of speakers hooked to a sub-woofer. I'll buy another pair for a work shop stereo system.

I added a sub woofer and the speakers sound great. Other than being weak on bass, I would have no complaints.

I love them, i may not be an audiophile but they work for me. They look awesome. Even my roommate who is an audiophile said that he might pick up a pair. I have had for about a month and now and just love them. plus what 2.95 shipping, not 80$ so that's worth it right there

Speakers arrived in good shape. Sexy looking. Audio quality is pretty good for the money. I'm not blown away by any means, but satisfied.

The speakers sound fine but even with double boxing, which didn't seem to be the culprit, the speakers looked as though they had been strapped down or something at one time. The corner edge had some veneer pushed up, Otherwise nice set of speakers..

Wow! I am very pleased with these speakers. They sound great with my older JVC surround sound receiver in the bedroom for watching movies.. I plan on purchasing a 7:1 system, so the SDat's will be placed in the living room for listening to music. The price was excellent and the shipping was free and fast. There was only one hardly noticeable nic even with the speakers packed double boxed. I would suggest not carrying the speaker with the string protrusion on the front as it came loose. I pushed it back on. Very pleased with the purchase.

When the speakers arrived one was damaged, but Overstock took care of the issue very quickly and effectively. Part of the reason that happened was because the speakers are made from cheap materials, and although they don't look it, they feel like it. Still considering the price and the sound this is a small issue. If you don't plan to keep them for 20 years then they are a great investment. As some others noted in their reviews the speakers do not look like the photo on the site. They are much closer to black with dark brown streaks and the speakers cones are silver. I am impressed with the sound; the bass response is tight and punchy without being overwhelming or non-existent. And they look like they cost a lot more than they did. For the price they are awesome.

This item was shiped to me with the wire inside of the case dislogged. I had to physical unsrew the spreakers and mount the wires inside myself. The cheap quality of manfacturing was well noted. They did not fasten the screws inside the case. Quality of this item is not all that great. I feel the other reviews were mis-leading.

After reading the reviews ( all 56 of them) I ordered the speakers. I received them in fine condition. The packaging could use some more styrofoam padding. I hooked them up to my old Sansui a/v receiver and wham!! .What awesome sound. For the money you can't go wrong. And the styling is so high end looking. Anyone looking at these speakers would think you'd pay twice the price. They've got some serious bass too. I don't turn them up too high because they are loud. If you're looking for some really good looking speakers that sound really good. these are them. I love them. If I had the room I would order another pair. Maybe in one of the other color or model.

Speakers arrived well packaged but one speaker had minor body damage which I chose to fix myself. . Since the packaging looked perfect, and taking all the other reviews into consideration, I assume many of these units may have prexisting imperfections or dings which are reflected in the pricing. Aside from this, the speakers function perfectly. However, these bad boys need high octane to drive them. They sound great at high volumes but they are lacking at low volume levels. I tried them out as bedroom speakers with my two channel 80Wx2 Harmon Kardon receiver and wasnt impressed. Had to turn the treble way up to make them sound decent at low volume. I then tried them out as front mains on my 100W per channel 5.1 JVC set up in my family room and the fit was much better. My center channel, rear surrounds and a little experimenting with my receivers customization features made up for what was lacking. Bottom line, if you like to crank it up, these speakers are not a bad choice. Otherwise, they will only work well as part of a home theatre set up. They will make good replacements for many of those little cube speakers.

had to scramble when my speakers died...had a party coming up...so I went to the local big box stores and was appalled at what they had. Either the speakers sounded great but cost a fortune or were a buy but sounded awful or they were too small (more suitable to a shelf system) or too big. I went through the reviews here and decided these would be worth a try. I figured if they weren't what I wanted I would just return them. They are SENSATIONAL. I'm not a techno-geek so I can't give you a full rundown of WHY they sound so good...but they do! The sound is warm and full and there's zip distortion when played really loud or very soft...and I still can't get over the price. One additional note pertinent more to Overstock.com than the speakers themselves. SDAT's packaging is dismal so when I got the speakers one was broken. I called immediately, got a replacement set at no charge by second day air and a shipping label to send the orginal box (47 pounds) back. Now THAT was sweet! Despite the momentary glich, a great shopping experience and great speakers.

Speakers were double boxed, no damage at all. They look like very high end expensive speakers. They sound very good and are well worth the price!!!! My friends think I paid a lot more for them then I did. I am using them as the side surround speakers in a 7.1 setup with 90 watts each. You cant go wrong for the money AAAA++++ deal.
