I broke my last shredder. No, I didn't choke it, I BROKE it! The shredding disks in the center were bent and broken. So I realized I needed to pay more than $29.99 for one.The Royal SP12 MX Confetti Paper Shredder will shred 8-10 sheets of 24 lb bond without choking. This cuts my shredding time in half, since the previous shredder I owned would only take about 4 sheets. It is larger than my old shredder, too, but the container is larger, which means I don't have to empty it as often.I disagree with other reviewers that someone might reassemble a page from the shredded 1in x 1/4 inch confetti. Have you really ever tried to do this? All you have to do is to include some pages of miscellaneous correspondence or junk mail, stir up the confetti as you are bagging it, and this doubles the sorting task If you're really paranoid, always split your batch of confetti into two bags that are put into the trash for separate pickup.I like the raised control switch, with a little cutout to make it easier to turn it off quickly. I also like the view port, which is larger than my previous shredder. I don't use the locking feature, but I taped the keys to the top of the unit so I won't lose them, in case I ever want to use the lock. All in all, this is a good buy for the money. If you've got plenty of time to shred your old financial records, you can save money on a cheaper model that will only take 3-4 sheets at a time. But this does the job twice as fast and since time is money, I figure it will pay for itself the first year.
Very satisfied with Royal SP12MX paper shredder. It does a great job.
I like the shredder, but it is advertised as a CONFETTI shredder and it is a Crosscut, as stated on the box. I probably would have bought the other Royal model had I known because I was specifically looking for a confetti shredder. This is my only con and it works well and time will tell how it holds up.
