Rokinon iTTL AF Dedicated Flash for Nikon

CONS: It feels a bit flimsy but hey...XX bucks right? The battery door is a bit troublesome so make sure you are not in a hurry because you could end up with the door in your hand. Before I purchased this item i did a bit of research and found this item by Model number in a review that explains that this is a rebranded model that also sells as a Vivitar. In the video they show that there is a control panel that shows the settings and all the results of your exposure... pretty handy, unfortunately this model DOES NOT HAVE that back panel and that was disappointing... but then again... XX bucks! PROS: If you have no flash, this is a nice unit to get away from the built in one. For one, it removes the flash from the axis of your lens which helps with the dreaded red eye. Also, light output, while being a bit higher than the camera flash, is quite natural and accurate due to the TTL feature. You also get a variable angle head and the red light that helps on low light focusing. All in all, for XX bucks you don't get much but this is better than your built in. I would recommend it if you have nothing else and if you do not want to fiddle with settings. Like a previous review said: 1. mount 2. turn on. 3. shoot That simple.

Good Flash, fills in the area well and bounce worked well

I gave this a single star only because there wasn't a half star option. This is a LOUSY flash. First off, it is huge compared to other models. Next, it is a finicky flash -- one frame will be overexposed, the next under. It won't bounce flash well, and after ruining numerous shots I am sending it back. I had a Nikon flash until my strap broke and my camera landed on the flash. I should have spent the money on another one instead of trying to save a buck. Overstock is great, though, and ships quickly and is always easy to deal with. This product was just below par.

I bought this to boost the flash range on my Nikon D80.This unit is pretty hit and miss on exposure - it doesn't synch well with the Nikon D80 metering. It does add a little to the overall range but that's about it.Doesn't compensate for exposure very well when using bounce which requires additional flash boost to compensate for the angle.As a basic flash range extender it works ok but be prepared to take a number of photos with exactly the same settings and end up with a large variation in exposures.I set the unit up on my D80 with a tripod and cable release, took a series of 20 photos inside with identical shutter and aperture values of the same static object and ended up with 5 photos which I would call correctly exposed, 6 drastically under exposed, 3 somewhat under exposed, 4 slightly over and 2 completely blown (over exposed) - go figure?
