really good flashgun, easy to use but let down slightly by the complex screen, but the features and capability of this unit for the price are superb. To get similar in a manufacturer's branded flashgun would cost four or five times as much. Not available in the UK retail market but don't let that put you off. Mine was shipped and delivered within the week from the States and without any problems
Flash works as you expected. Bright and works at a large distance The pull out diffuser and reflector make a decent diffuser, but of course are not as good as larger diffusers.I'm using this with my Pentax k-x. With the flash down, it works great fully auto. Auto zooms based on your current focal length, automatically adjusts brightness, syncs with aperture and iso One caveat, ISO only synced on mine when I set ISO to manual on the camera. Auto iso confused the flash. When the flash is rotated up, at any angle, it returns to manual full output mode. It probably makes sense as the light is no longer aimed at the subject.I quickly tried all the camera flash modes, set from the camera. They all seemed to work correctly, including flash sync and trailing flash. AF assist works as well. I quickly tested out the optical wireless flash and that worked as well.A pretty good deal when compared to the price of the Pentax brand flashes. Great for amateurs.
I've been using this flash for well over a year now on my Pentax K10, and while it's not high end by any stretch, it works really well. The built in reflector and diffuser work well and the head swivels in most directions to provide sufficient bounce. I never used flashes in the past, but decided to give this a try. I may upgrade to a better flash when I upgrade cameras, but am very happy with my purchase.
as i am a developing photographer it is evident that there are some essentials, good camera, lenses, and good eqipment. the flash is a basic necessity and i hoped to purchase the rokinon as an adequate alternative to the more advanced flashes, much more suitable to my level. so far i have found it to exceed my expections.
It seems okay at first, but quickly became fickle and flashed only when it wanted to. I gave it to my son to use as a 'slave' in his little studio, which seems to work fine for him.
