I have always wanted a Fisheye lens ever since I was a kid, but a decent fisheye costs a lot of money, and the cheaper ones are usually no better than plastic toy. All that changed when I saw this one. It is well built, stylish, inexpensive and has great optics. I have been using this lens for almost two months now, I am extremely pleased with its performance. Manual focus is NOT a problem due to its tremendous depth of field. Just set it to 1.5 ft, f/8-f/11, anything from 1 foot to infinity would be sharp. Rokinon (Made by Korean company Samyang, which also sold lens under many different labels, namely Vivitar, Bower,Opteka, Pro-Optics...etc. Rokinon brand is the lowest priced one) was not known for quality optics before, but in recent years, it has produced quite a few winners with great critics reviews: 8mm f/3.5; 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4. I have owned tho of t hem (8mm,85mm)so far. ALL these are Manual everything lenses, make sure your camera is compatable with it before you make your purchase. I think this 8mm lens is the BEST $290.00 toy any photographer can have! Get one and have FUN!!! Caution: Due to the shape of the lens, there is no way for you to fit a protective filter on it. Be sure to cover the lens with the supplied lens cap when not in use. Unlike "normal" lens, any tiny scratches on the lens surface will show up like a sore thumb in your photo.
