It lasts for about a year. For this price I guess i got my money's worth. I bought another one. It's cheap, maybe taking better care of it could have saved me the glitches. The chord made my music fade in and out to the point where i had to wiggle it to get it to work.It works well though I liked it.
I bought the cable because it was a really good price and was retractable. It worked for about four months and then one day, the sound from my phone would only come out of one of the speakers in my car. Then, the sound would go in and out from that speaker. If I were you, I would buy a better product than will last rather than waste your time with this cable that will only last you a few months.
Have Ford auto with external input to radio, optioned to plug in my MP3 player output-headphone jack. The retractable cable worked OK. The cable is white where I would have preferred black.
For the price, this is an excellent deal. A few drawbacks are that the cord is a bit short & the sound quality on my MP3 player required the device & car radio to be turned up quite a bit, but my phone worked great with it. I hate cords, so the retractable quality is a big plus for me. Would definitley recommend & buy again. For the price, it can't be beat.
