This is the best handheld I've ever used. It's portable and doesn't drain the batteries like alot of models out there. Would like to have had the option of an a/c adapter, but you can't always get what you want! When you use the scanner, make sure the paper doesn't fold up as you scan down, and make sure the imaging plate is flat. I tried copying a book, and in the middle, the scanner would not fit on the right side. Options are to turn the book the other way, or scan bottom up, reversing the scanner. I'm really glad I purchased it. I use it with my printer software to view the images. Can't figure out why the ABBYY screen shot was included with it.

I'm very pleased with the results I get from this scanner with documents and images. Unless it's a big job I use it even when there's a flatbed scanner near because it's so convenient. . As title agent I am able to work faster than others while getting the information that I need at an ease. This helps my company that I am working for save money .This makes me more efficient as I can keep my train of thought while working on a certain piece of land at a time, and I get the information as soon as I can reach my computer. Although the output is only in jpg format, if you have an all-one-printer you may already have software to convert it to pdf. For best results use a straight edge on the side of the document to guide the scanner so it stays perpendicular to the document. If the document has folds, put a piece of clear plastic over it like a document sleeve so the scanner doesn't snag on the fold bumps. Obviously this isn't possible with every document such as when scanning a page of a book. The product shipped fast, the product produces high quality scans, is simple to use, good price, no easily breakable parts. Extremely satisfied with my purchase.

The obvious advantage of the 4800 is its well designed approach to scanning book pages: Having the scanner glass come to the edge of the unit so that scanning pages without any hint of a binder shadow is simply part of the design is a great idea. Of course, providing the scanner with the ability to scan high resolutions quickly is equally important to the often arduous task of transforming book chapters into Portable Document Files and this scanner provides plenty of speed for that part of the job as well. The inclusion of "Book Pavillion" software to scan multiple pages into a single PDF adds simplicity and speed to the process and automates certain functions such as delimiting the scan area to the book page size automatically, allowing for color, gray scale, and black and white scans on the fly, and making provision for rotating pages to a common orientation before generating the final PDF. The software can even automatically rotate odd or even scans to produce a uniform orientation without user intervention. The result is that scan jobs are done quickly and yield a final document the quality of which can only be considered exceptional.

This printer is not intuitive and poorly designed. Everyone from our admin staff to the book keeper have complained about it. I'm sorry that I purchased it....

Worth the price for the screen-grab software alone. Does a good job scanning though it is difficult to reach the inside edge of columns in a bound book or magazines that cannot be sufficiently flattened. The leading edge of the case tends to drag, it would be better if the manufacturer would round the edges. Otherwise an OK buy.

Bought with a great price-very smooth transaction, fast and easy. not like the HP printers i bought before, the printer is easy to install, print faster, less paper jam (better than the Samsung printer i have). wireless signal is easier to identify. It's a bit heavier, bigger in size tho. if you have a small space, like I do, you can put it on piles of books or on top of an organizer. so far so good! recommended

The scanner is very reasonably priced. Its portability is excellent. After a few minutes you can get the hang of it on how fast to move it over the scanned surface to be able to get a good image. . Takes a little practice and seems to be more sensitive on high definition settings. In less than one minute of evaluating the scanned images one is able to learn how to move the scanner. I have obtained great results scanning both color and b/w images. It has proved invaluable when the sources of information scanned cannot be removed from a particular area. Images obtained from 3 d surfaces like books have been good and legible. The included software is fairly good. The fact that the equipment does not need to be attached to a computer to be able to scan is an advantage as one can travel lighter. It doesn't work if the microsd is not inserted so be sure to buy one along with the scanner if u dont have one already. Controls are toggle switches very easy to use; included instructions straight to the point. LCD is tiny so if you're above 40 you'll need eyeglasses to see well for the first few scans. You'll memorize the location of the icons for the next scans. It absolutely works. The best thing is the portability. If you are doing document research and taking notes you will love using this. It is a little tricky using it on books but works better then taking handwritten notes on 3x5 cards. I know what to get my college age grandkids. I bought a Micro SD 2G card and don't know yet if this is large enough for large projects but will find out. Neat little product!
