I have looked at powered subs in the $700-$1K price range but decided to take a chance on this one. For true bass accuracy you can do a little better but will need look at subs in the price range I mentioned above. I am pleased to say that I am very happy with my purchase and Overstock.com service. I received this product on the stated date via UPS with no damage what so ever to the unit. Yes the outside of the box as a little rough looking but the sub is also inner packed. You may not find a lot of reviews for this sub online but rest assured this is a well made hard hitting powered sub woofer. This is a great sub for the money and a very good value. Build quality, fit and finish are much better than I expected at this price point. In order to get the best performance from this “ported” sub you will need to try various placement locations, adjust the crossover and volume settings and make sure you have it correctly phased. Many of the other tweaks can be done using your A/V receiver also which I found necessary to get the best transparent balance. I might buy another one to complete my THX Ultra2 set up. I don't think I really need another one but at this price why not. Do your research which is most of the fun, buy within your means and enjoy music and movies at home.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this sub and was fortunate enough to find it here for 30 bucks cheaper! This thing is HEAVY and shipped double boxed. Outside box had dents and holes but interior packaging was pristine. Coming from a hard pounding Cerwin Vega CLSC-12 powered sub I had some reservations that this could serve as a comperable replacement but boy was I wrong. Totally different sound coming from a 15" sub. Deep Deep bass and lots of it. This thing shakes my sofa 10 feet away without breaking a sweat. I don't have to have this thing cranked to get incredible bass. In fact I'm looking forward to watching all my movies again because I know that I'll be in for a whole new audio experience. I'm in love with this thing and it's still in the break in period. I would highly recommend this product. Build quality is superb and for being a 15" sub it's sound reproduction is tight and very accurate. As a side note, forums also recommended the Subdude which is a subwoofer platform that practically eliminates the obnoxious wall shaking and pipe wobbling sounds that are inherent to deep base reproduction. Can't say enough about that product either!
