So the filter is actually two polarizer filters sandwiched together. The first filter polarizes the light, and the second filter blocks the polarized light. So if you rotate them the right way, you get varying degrees of neutral density. In that aspect, the product works great. However, the resulting image leaves much to be desired. The filters give a green cast and also reduce contrast. The more intense the effect you dial in, the more pronounced the green cast and reduced contrast. Some photographers might think that these are acceptable tradeoffs and that you can fix them in post. I am not one of them. Whenever you take a picture with low contrast and then try to fix it in post, you just don't have the ability to get the same image as one that didn't need fixing in the first place. I have not tried the variable ND's of other manufacturers, so I don't know if this is a quality control issue or something that just can't be avoided with this style of filter.
