I bought my fiancee a HDTV with built in DVD for Christmas last year. Later I bought her a 9 disk set of her favorite Korean soap opera with English subtitles. That was when I learned that DVD players were coded for a geographic location, and the built in DVD of her TV could not read them. I ordered the multi-region DVD player and crossed my fingers that it would do the job. Success! Now my Hunny Bear can watch all her soaps, with English subtitles. She's happy which, of course, makes me very happy!

I purchased this unit in order to be able to play DVD's from overseas. 1. It did not do what was advertised 2. It "ate" the first DVD I put in (I had to take the thing apart in order to get it back) 3. It did not play any DVD, Enough said? I was forced to give this 1 star

For anyone that has DVD's that they can't play at home because it's the wrong region, this player is for you. It's by no means feature rich but the picture and sound quality are good. The remote is simple and does not allow you to scan through scenes. You have to start at the beginning of the scene or forward to the next one. I'm still happy with it, considering the cost of the player and it's size and quality. The player does not take up much space and is put together well. if you are considering buying a multiregion player, buy this one for 50 to 65% less than others are offering.
